I just received word from the field that on the morning of Monday, September 27, Henry McNatt from Lutz, Florida hunting with Nassos Roussos of Ethiopian Rift Valley Safaris has taken what could easily amoung the great African trophies of all time. Hunting in the Munessa Forest Concession, Henry and Nassos shot a mountain nyala that's longer horn green scored 43 2/8" in length and 11 1/8" in circumference. The second horn is only slightly shorter. This will easily place Henry mountain nyala as the new SCI #2, beating Marc Watts' legendary mountain nyala that was taken with Nassos' son, Jason, only a few years back. And that's not the end of the story. Prior to hunting Munesssa, Henry and Nassos hunted the Omo Valley for a short hunt where they were also quite successful, harvesting a very old male lesser kudu with heavily broomed off horns. The bull was estimated to have lost over 1.5 inches but still measured slightly over 35" in length. In it's prime Henry's lesser kudu would have easily been the SCI #1. Two absolutely tremendous trophies. I'll post photos as soon as I get them.

Sorry Bwana Moja...it was bound to happen sooner or later.

Kathi,
He took that one in the heather higher up above Munessa. That area is all full of people now.

Now wait just a minute. Show me a picture pleeeeeeze of this 43"+ trophy. I won't believe it till I see it!

Seriously congrats to Henry and Nassos. I was the first to say that Jason and I believe that much bigger Mt. Nyala specimens than the 42-incher we took, are out there. The latest trophy that Henry and Nassos took underscore that.

Rich I would appreciate it if you and Jason reach out to me. I need to re-book with you guys immediately. Jason and I have work to do. This time we're gonna put that Mt. Nyala record out of reach for anyone to meet! Wink Tell Nassos I'm not stopping at #2, I'm going for #!.

Awesome news and congrats again to ERVS, Henry and Nassos.

I visited the ERVS website and it details many different options that they offer but I could find no information about their hunting operations. Can someone direct me to a site where I can find more details about their hunting operations?

We seldom get to choose
But I've seen them go both ways
And I would rather go out in a blaze of glory
Than to slowly rot away!

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."
