Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Craig and I hunted with Mark Haldane of Zambezi Delta Safaris last August filming for Tracks Tv and had a great safari taking all the game you mentioned. His web site is www.gamehuntersafrica.com a GREAT area and even better people.

Murray,

We hunted with HHK Safaris four times in Zimbabwe. We really like Graham and the company. They have now ventured into Moz.This is just another option.

HHK now offers hunting in Mozambique

Recently we have acquired the hunting rights to a massive block in
western Mozambique. The area is over 5000 square km's in size located
in the Tete province some 150km west of Tete along the road to Zambia.
The area is very under developed in terms of roads and access and we
are currently in the process of developing a road network to access
the remote sections of the hunting blocks. We are confident in saying
there are areas here where very few if any hunters have been into in
recent times. We are very excited to be part of the development of
these areas and to offer this exciting opportunity to our clients.
Species such as lichtenstein hartebeest, roan antelope, lion and
leopard are well represented in the areas.

What Dave Fulson said. Mark & Glen Haldane have been hunting Moz longer than Bahati or HHK. I hunted with them in 2003 & 2005 and can attest to their operation and game. I've sent numerous clients to hunt with them without any issues. And Craig has mentioned to me how much he enjoyed the hunt with Mark. I have personally taken new world record Suni and Red Duiker (handgun) with them and they have since set even newer records. I took a 43" Buff (rifle) with Glen on dry land in 2003 and another with handgun in the swamps in 2005.

Isn't Buzz and Myles hunting Moz? Believe they hunt under one of the leading Moz outfits. Saw some of the monster crocs and hippos they have taken.

+2 for Dave and Mike with regards to the Haldane brothers. I hunted with them in 2008, and two of my friends with then in 2009, and two more are going in 2010.

They run an excellent operation and now hunt both Coutadas 11 and 12. The place is lousy with buff!

Johan,

Sorry Mate, but I am not wrong.

Bahati was owned and operated by another before you bought it, yes? The prior owner was an unscrupulous jerk and a liar. And I told him so to his face while in Africa at a meeting in front of a number of well known witnesses.

When an operation changes hands, even if they keep the same name, it's a different business. That's good for you because I've heard only good things about your operation. You really don't want to claim anything to do with Piets operation of Bahati. And I'm not alone in that opinion.

Cheers

Call Bruce Watson of Walker and Watson Safaris. They hunt with and for Safarique. Also Ian Rutledge hunts with them. Not been there but if these guys are involved, it will be straight up.

another vote for Bahati. hunted with them 2 years ago and suni/red duiker were no problem. was not after buff(croc, sable instead) but from what i saw in the skinning shed, shouldn't be a problem. really great people and a beautiful area.

I hunted Bahati under Piet and had nothing but the best of times and treatment. So since Johan still has Marius on his staff, I'd also recommend Bahati.

I was turkey hunting this past weekend with one of the owners of HHK and he was really excited about what they're now doing in Mozambique. I've only hunted with HHK once (Zim), but they run a very good operation and it's nice having the owner here in the US that you chat--or hunt with.

I have hunted with Bahati since 1999 when Peet had the operation and had great hunts and never experienced what one member reported. Johan has continued and enhanced the operation and runs an excellent outfit.
Saaiman Safaris sharing Coutada 10 and coordinating with Bahati also is excellent. The amount and quality of game is amazing.

My dad and I have a 14 Mozambique day hunt planned with Bruce Watson (Safrique) for August 2011. We are hunting the Majune Concession just southwest of the Niassa Reserve. We are doing Leopard, Sable, Kudu, maybe Croc. This is our first hunt in Moz but after looking at some of the trophy quality that comes out of that area we are way pumped to go!
