I think i have it all figured out as to the # 1 reason why Cape Buffalo are such irrate fellows  we can at least pull off the ticks or divorce them but a buffalo cant do much about them EDITED | ||

I have a tracker friend in Zambia, who'd slice the nuts right off the animal the moment we walked up to him. He'd carry them in his jumpsuit pocket, salivating at the moment he got to bite down on them after boiling them in the pot back at camp. Buffalo balls were his favorite. | |||

Ticks are bad enough and my intention is not to "one up you" but we have these little devils here in Texas we call CHIGGERS! They are about like a mosquito bite X10 and they just love to get around you crotch and are microscopic. Where there is one there are a 100. I bet if that Buff had a case of chiggers like those ticks he would have a serious case of attitude! | |||

458Aubs Thanks. CHEGROES, they got nothing on juvenile ticks, also known as pepper ticks, micro dot in size. Hundreds of the damn things can cover you. When you warm up, shower, bath or in bed, you ITCH!! So bbaaaaadly that you bleed from scratching and if they have settled on your scrotum and surrounds, a knife could come in handy. It is bad enough having the bleeding itches in bed or the bath, but when you try to scratch your scrotum on a stair rail in public like a rhino rubbing his backside on a termite mound, and hope like hell that the folk staring at your strange behaviour have not called for the guys in white coats and straight jackets. you know 505 and scriptus, after this last hunt on the drive back to Jhb i started itching like mad.... i had scratched welts all over my legs and was feeling like a pooch in the pound with a bad case of fleas.... i have never in my life applied so much cream in a 10 hour time frame... i got home, kissed the wife hello and went upstairs to soak in a bath as hot as i could handle with "Detol" and "peppermint extract" in it - the bites stopped pretty much right after that. PS - those Chegroes sound very nasty | |||

Chiggers are the left-over feeding tubes of larval stages which the eventual adults leave. Not related to 'moyale' burrowing females that leave eggs inside you to hatch out. I had one of those in my big toe in Ethiopia as a kid, and ringworm was worse. Our myth is to smother them with fingernail polish (clear, hopefully) over each spot. However, they are long gone and it is the tube that's irritated/itches so bad. Anbesol works, some try Adolph's meat tenderizer, etc. _______________________ | |||

Use the brown colored consentrated Lysol in warm bath water. Use 2 cap fulls to about an inch of water. Take a wash cloth soak it and soak down the spots where the chiggers are. WARNIG DO NOT GET IT ON YOUR BALLS!. You will know a new meaning of having your balls on fire. It will stop the inching in a few minutes and kills the chiggers. Long time ago while bowhunting, me and a buddy walked  thru a large field of goatweed that was over our heads. Big friggin mistake.The things you see when you don't have a gun. A good stout bath with chlorine or bleach works good after infestation. In Texas prarie oysters are on seversl menu's. Young calf nut's. Best eaten heated till the bust on a brandin' fire. | |||

Man cant remember the cream, but it did not do much to relieve the itching at all... i think the trick was the hot bath with the mooty in it, no chance of getting and special treatment crawling with bugs - lol the welts were self induced from scratching bite marks non stop | |||
