"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

I went last year on a self guided hunt, I had a great hunt. I killed a western roan, buffalo, harnessed bushbuck, western hartebeest, red river forest hog. I could have also killed warthog, duiker and oribi. Only 1-2 % of hunters would ever enjoyable this type of hunt.. This is a true African foot Safari, once you are drooped off your truly living off the land and freeze dried food for weeks. On a typical day we hunted/traveled 7-15 miles in 100+ heat and staggering humidity. Each day was a grueling test of endurance! This type of hunt is solely for the adventure, it's is not a trophy hunt were you kill lots of animals.

One thing is for sure, if you go on one of these hunts you will learn what Africa is really like! I traveled hundreds of miles on, Trains (straight out of a wild west movie), Buses, Vans were we held our rifles out the window ( so the bad guys knew we were armed). Met tribal leaders exchanging gifts, (They blessed our guns by sacrificing a chicken) Hunted with two unbelievable trackers that could follow tracks for days until we killed the animal. This was the Africa I grew up reading about!
Cam Grieg is the contact for these hunts. Email me if you want more information. jjohnson@alaska.net

A couple of people let me know this was posted, but I was at the FNAWS show so I hope Robert Johnson answered your querry adequately. I had a good hunt with him last year, and it will be a feature article in African Hunter magazine in a few months.
If anyone is interested in getting more information please feel free to reply to me. I do help people orqganize these self guided hunts. I have about 10 hunters going this year in this manner.
