Just curious........does anyone know of some good alternative safari destinations for a family's first safari to Africa? Somewhere besides RSA and Namibia that has around the same pricing? How about Zambia and Botswana ranch hunting? I found this place: Tswana Safaris in Botswana. I'm just exploring all the possibilities. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

I just returned from a ranch hunt in Botswana that I booked through Wendell Reich. As soon as I get caught up at work I will be posting a hunt report, but we had a great time and I wouldn't hesitate to go there on a family safari.

I hunted in Botswana for plains game with Greg Butler Safaris. NOT a ranch hunt. Price was comparable to a high end RSA hunt. The main difference with Botswana is having to buy the licenses upfront. Let me know if you want more info. Had a wonderful trip and highly recommend the outfit.

LS,

Why didn't you just rescehule with the people you were going to hunt with in Namibia? You obviously did a great amount of research before you made the decision to hunt with these folks including quite an exchange of information with me. Why would you embark on a completely new research campaign? Just curious.

Mark,

We may very well still re-book with Omalanga Safaris. I'm not looking for a definite replacement.......just doing some more research to see what has changed and see if there is something we would rather have that isn't available in Namibia.

I'm sure they won't miss my business but the ice skating olympics will be held in hell before I'd book with Omalanga.

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.

NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.

I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

You can ask but since I prefer not to have to put up with dozens of his supporters telling me how he walks on water and telling me what a judgemental no good SOB I am (even if they're right), I'll be glad to answer you via a PM if you want to send me one.
