Hiy all,

I'm about to close my bag and head out to Jo'burg this afternoon and I got a call that there is a sudden cold front comeing through southern africa. Apparently it is snowing in the cape and certain parts of the Free State.

My guy tells me that it is so cold that the free State farmers are wearing two pairs of shorts to keep warm!!

Put on long pants for the first time in a month.I am in northeast Namibia, about sixty miles east-northeast of Grootfontein.

We seldom get to choose
But I've seen them go both ways
And I would rather go out in a blaze of glory
Than to slowly rot away!

That is the damn problem, scrambling for thick socks, denim jeans are useless, you might as well wear shorts. The gloves I have do not keep cold out. I have been told to look out for some "long johns." Could end up stompin around like John Wayne. And for good measure, the damn wind is near gale force. No wonder my forebears got the hell out of Europe. Pure cr@p! Frowner My bones are getting too old for this sh#t!

You had better get a case of that stuff in, and chop up a few more trees. I see on the forecast that there is a big one the way. More high winds and another load of snow.

It was 104*+F here in Denair, California, USA today and is suppose to get hotter for the next week or so. I think I will just stay inside with the A/C set at 73*F and have a cold one. Or go relax in the pool with a cool drink.

Thanks Cecil. That is a huge range. 5 celcius to about 26 celicus for the 40-80 F you quoted. Can't believe it gets that cold. I doubt they have heat either in camp. I guess I will be taking the long johns and stripping down by noon lol

Phil,

In August you'll need wool blankets at night and get toasted at midday. Nice time to be there. Dress in layers as it will be chilly in the Cruiser early AM but warming nicely by 9.
