Mims Reed passed away on Thursday. He was a dear friend that I have known for many years. He had Hunter's Headquarters and went by the screen name Harry.

A regular for years at the Dallas show with his Tuffpak display.

Well, darn!! I missed another chat with Mimms!! What a great guy!!

I met Mimms at the Tulsa Gun Show when he was showing TufPak, many years ago, then later at DSC.

About 5 years ago, he remembered my interest in Double Rifles and by phone introduced me to Richard Cousins in Pittsburg, another fanatic of Doubles. Our friendship turned into weekly conversations, always interesting and engaging. We would often ring in Mimms on our calls. Sadly Richard passed from a long battle with lung cancer in November just after we sailed for Africa.

These two are together again in The Happy Hunting Ground!! Campfire stories are flying!! I miss them both...

Truer words never said.

I have not met him personally, but had talked to him on the phone many times.

Good guy and man of his word. Bought several tuffpaks from him. Enjoyed the brief friendship.
And, he never called me stupid, like some here have....

May he rest in peace. Now in the far green country, under a swift sunrise.

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Oh damn that rascal and I went back to the early '80's.
Took Mims for woodchucks and he was the only man or boy that I ever saw triple on them. Shot Prairie dogs with him too. Helped me get started in my love of Sako rifles.
I'll miss his annual Christmas letter.
He was great company and my wife enjoyed him too.

RIP dear Mims

I first met Mims in the late 1980's, at his Hunter's Headquarters in Bedford.
We both had a deep appreciation for Sako rifles, that carried on through the years.
I'll miss our messages and phone calls. He was a great conversationalist and story teller.

R.I.P. Mims........

Kevin

(edit: One of our "trades"....a Winslow/Sako 17-222......thanks Mims)
