There's been some discussions whether the leopard belongs to the big 5.
For those that say "no", I beg to differ:
One of 5

I think this pretty much settles it the discussion.

IMO, the leopard more than qualifies as a member of the big five! If there is a member who doesn't quite make the grade, it would be, again IMO, the white rhino, now that the black rhino is basiclly out of the running. I think the hippo, hunted on land, is more dangerous than the white rhino.

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

Simple, let's have a "Big 6", bring on the Hippo, no need for any retirements.

Since the black rhino is basically off limits in this age, I think the Big 5 should include the hippo taken on dry land, rather than the black rhino. The white rhino doesn't qualify in my opinion, regardless of how he is hunted or "taken".

The leopard should count. Darted rhino should count otherwise only the really filthy rich would even think about it. It is more difficult to shoot leopard than buffalo and darting rhino is every bit as difficult as hunting buffalo, maybe more so. Kudude
