just watched the first under wild skyies show of the season almost immediately it was a disaster, tony whipped out this absolutely magnificent piece of walnut. suitable for use on any mauser or m70, but no it was on a miserable POS blaser. shocker barf well that ruined the entire show. he did redeemed himself by using a beautiful westly richards paradox double, but the damage was already done, just imagine yourself holding a wonderful piece piece of walnut that the gods deemed perfect for a m70 or mauser or #1 ruger and : then find yourself holding a blaser faint CRYBABYin public on world wide tv what an embarrassment 2020

Lol.. Tell us how you really feel about Blaser. He's been using them for as long as I've watched. They are starting to grow on me. They seem to make more sense every time I'm carrying a full size case through an airport. But I have my heart set on the new Sauer 404 system.

Here only Walter like Blasers.

And frankly, I also hate all the silly contraptions that seem to come from Austria and Germany sold as "rifles".

All those silly ones with straight pull and floating receivers!

I have no idea what sort of drugs those who design these are on rotflmo

I think what is going to hurt the show more than anything is no more Botswana elephant and buffalo. They did a couple of shows in Niassa but it was clearly not the same and Tony vented his frustration several times. I worry that Johan would not be able to carry on either. I heard he sold his block in Niassa and is basically a booking agent these days?

That is the biggest mistake a country has ever made where hunting is concerned. Where elephant are concerned the quota of elephant to hunting was so small that it didn’t even keep up with the birth rate, and elephant are badly over populated there already! This decision will cause a total destruction of the habitat in short order! Not to mention putting good guys like Johan out of business. IMO Johan Caletz is one of the most conservation conscious people I have ever come in contact with, he truly loves elephants in particular, and all wildlife in general.

Closing Botswana is a sin against nature!

IIRC Johan Calitz had to sack 107 employees when Botswana closed. I bet 95% where black Africans...shame..

I visited Bots. in early june...elephant stomping down fences every night...causing farmers to repair fences every day.

The government turn a blind eye..!

Regarding Blaser: The Blaser R8 right..? The number 8 in Norwegian is åtte. Rat in Norwegian is Rotte..

Sooo there you go, Blaser Rat-rifle.... dancing

Haven't seen the episode yet but I believe WR made the Explora and Fauneta (20 gauge) paradox style rifles. The Paradox name is held by Holland, I believe. Each manufacturer had a unique name for their ball & shot rifle. Believe that Lang's was "Colindian".

I love Austrian & German rifle - from 100+ years ago!

Yes My Simson pre 1912 & my Mannlicher Schoenauer pre 1924!

When I show my small collection of 7 center fire rifles to fellow hunters and gun enthusiasts, it is those two rifles that always attract attention and all the excitement about the workmanship, balance and wood.

Even the full stocked (by me) ex Greek military 1930s reproduction of the 1903 MS gets a few people excited.

The Sako, Tikka, Kimber etc never make it beyond a good first look at best.

Say what you will about Blaser. I am not particularly a blaser fan, but they have revived both Mauser, and John Rigby. For that I am grateful.

Venda Axe, I don't think anyone is apposed the Blaser company, it is mostly their double rifle that people here find a little ill conceived!

This week he uses a Winchester 1886 in .475 Turnbull to take three buffalo bulls out of one group. Good stuff. I enjoy seeing rifles other than the standard fare on safari.

Yes, wood does have a place on a fine rifle, like my R8 Attache', although my synthetic stocked Safari gets the yeoman chores :-)

Well Biebs, If I were buying a Blaser that is the only thing they make I would buy! The synthetic stock version would also be my pick, and I would save that wood for a double rifle of about any other make! archer......... faint

That being the entire point of "Lipstick on a Pig"! Why waste a nice piece of wood on such an ugly design?

Does a nice stick of wood make a TC Contender into a "Fine Weapon"?
