This Shootaway thing cracks me up.
I'd like to meet him.
Hell, this is just a forum and if any one of us is just a man enough, we can all take some punishment and laugh about it.
Confidence is something, no one can pry out of us, so what is a little ribbing ( or a lot ) gonna do to us?

That is right Boarkiller……… if I was going to SCI I would meet Shootaway and have a few drinks with him. What is the big deal. Personally I find some of his detractors to be more obnoxious than what they accuse him of…….. and I will admit some of his post I have seen have been a bit out there.

Don't know what it is about this site that causes supposedly intelligent, experienced and well heeled people to act like complete bone heads when they are posting.

Personally I hate shows and conventions, don't like cities and crowds. I'd be a lot more inclined to meet a bunch of the AR regulars on a group hunt than Vegas. Been there a lot of times and could care less if I ever go again. Have better things to do with my hard earned and meagre disposable income.

Great idea, invite George to the ranch for a little hunting and a beer or two. Lead by example.

Ya know what Mike……… if George is out this way and wants to stop in and have a few cold ones, I'd me more than glad to oblige. I am sure we would have lots to talk about.

Just not a big deal.

You haven't met the guy. Some of us have. But just keep defending him. We all did in the past as well. Give it time. You'll see. We have all been in your shoes concerning George in the past! ALL of us!

Something I always mention to my USA buddies , you guys live there and are not so aware of how expensive it has become , our rand pula kwacha metica have weakened against the dollar but not as fast as things havebbecome expensive , we used to fly cheap on delta passes , Levi jeans were 1/10 of the price here, we used to stock up on the latest electronic stuff , now not only is a lot of it the same price as here where luxury goods are taxed heavily but sometimes we are ahead because of direct imports from the east, Calbelas was on every Africans to do shop , it's become so expensive and quality questionable we simply don't bother.
Sadly this side of the pond it is no better , have just flown from Maun to JHB to Maputo back , less than 4 hours , it cost the same as my flight on BA from JHB to London to Las Vegas which is nearly 40 hours , that's 10 times the flying time. I remember we all preferred Lost Wages as the show city because rooms were $39 buffets $3.99 , crayfish tails and steak $7.99, taxi fares $1 , Dallas was always a little more expensive .
Again this side of the pond it's expensive but with the dollar at over R11 to $1 , local fare is excellent value , does not affect the hunting rates as most of us have always charged in $.
Staying with my game ranch partner who lives at Lake Las Vegas, hope to swing by the Giraffe lounge to see some geezers who seem to outdo me in the grey / bald / six pack a day belly stakes

Some people here think that they should own and control everything on AR and when things dont go their way they get angry and throw rocks at those that dont comply. One poster felt that a gun builder needed his approval should he decide sell a rifle to me.
Then there is Todd,he has just not been enlightened. rotflmo

Good and inexpensive are mutually exclusive in Vegas. Wink

That being said, unless you want to spend $500+ for Sushi at Masa, there are plenty of decent places to eat that are reasonably priced for the venue. Not that different from any large city. You get what you pay for.

Yeah...I agree. You can still find a deal on hotels...esp at the Luxor. And due to the traffic...airfare is still reasonable.

But dam the food is expensive. I eat at the Oceanaire in Dallas all the time and at the last SCI convention...my wife and I ate at the Oceanaire in Mandalay Bay and the same food was almost twice as expensive as in Dallas.

Well, all I can say is to try a different restaurant. At least you'd be paying extra for a new experience. Wink

Best wishes to all for a good time. We will not be there and will miss seeing many good friends and acquaintances.

With the big snow headed our way tonight, just getting there from the east coast may be problematic for many.

Safe travels to all.

I vote if Don ever goes to Vegas he has to take along another AR member in good standing (me) to supervise his activities and get him his meds on time
