Another way to look at this - you have 18 chances for success in golf and only one in hunting or in the bedroom....

Like many, I love the outdoors and started hunting for the meat. That said, my trophy hunting started when I hung the spike horns of my first deer on the wall of my college bedroom.

For about 50 years now, my freezers have been full of the meat from my many North American trophies. How many people can say that they are enjoying tacos at home from the meat of the muskox that they shot?

On my international hunts I trophy hunt, but about the only meat that I didn't eat at least part of was my Leopard and some other small predators. However the camp staff or local people did eat them.

Most of my hunting at home in Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana have been DIY hunts, so I often put considerable work into those hunts. For 20 some years I had my own horses, so I would pack in my own camps, and I have always processed my own meat.

As for golf, I only hate it when I hit a dad shot (which sometimes can be quite often). I buy a season pass at one of our local clubs, and have played up to 150 days per year.

Walk in the bush. Sit and listen, look, sleep, smell ....

Look for tracks.

Slip and fall on a wet slope.

Trip and fall on a dead fall.

Look for more sign.

Sun rise, sun set.

Bitch and moan about the rain and wet bush.

Bitch and moan some more and swear after grabbing a stinging nettle.

Hear a Sika deer squeal at my swearing! Busted.

Drop my specks in the tangle and search blindly. Find my specks in the tangle and feel like I won Lotto!

Peel and eat an orange and feel like the sweetest fruit ever. Watch a Fantail flit around. I sqeek and it comes to me. Sits on my rifle barrel. then on my head! Honestly this really happened to me!

Get back to camp, wet, bruised, hand still stinging from the nettle and cook up a can of Spam, dried potato flakes and dehydrated peas. Amazing dinner - best ever.

Cup of tea.

Sleep like a log on a hard wooden bunk.

No deer. Not a shot fired.

Back soon!

I've hunted in Alaska since 1985 and this summer will see Africa for the 18th time. Over the years I have lost interest in hunting and now do so for the oudoor experience with a vintage double rifle (which is the object of my passion). All of my taxidermy has been discared and now only a few skulls and Eurpoean mounts are on my walls. I rarely take anything home from the hunt any longer. The old doubles are what does it for me.
At this stage of my life I propably would not hunt much if I could not use an old double from the vintage years.

Golf? I'd rather watch Oprah reruns along with Whoopie and Rosie clips and a slow strip tease by Janet Reno.

Just another deplorable rambling...
Cheers mates.

I grew up hunting and fishing. When it is good there is nothing better, when it is bad, it is a lot of fun to kill rocks at long range.

I like some taxidermy, my brother in law is a taxidermist but I don't actually have a lot of it. I prefer skulls, mostly.

I like to shoot, and I like a lot of shooting. I don't like bad financial deals. The idea of a lion hunt or a Masailand hunt where so much money was riding on a species scares the shit out of me. Sheep hunting is awesome, but the amount of money in it makes me sick.

I don't have other activities beyond hunting.

Hunting for me home is for meat, when I travel for the experience. Started to travel alone early years in my life and hunting became a part of that travelling. Other hobbies is golf, photography that also is great when you visit new countries.

I like taxidermy as well but I only take back what for me is a special trophy either in place of the hunt or animal it self.

Will be spending April in Zimbabwe just for photos with a guy I met on Instagram Smiler He will do he´s dream trip and hopefully I will capture it with my camera.
