It ain't what you use but how you use it. I've shot two with TBSH's and one with TSX. One with TSX and one with Sledge Hammers went down with one shot. The other one took 1-.375, 2-.458, and 2-.470 to bring down. Well, this is more of like a "me to" thread than I like but I have killed buffalo with all of the bullets you are considering except the Winchester Fail Safe. These are just my personal experiences regarding each round. I would rate the TBBC and AFrame as very similar in regards to the animals' reaction to being shot. I think the AFrame is a little tougher that the TBBC but not by much. I saw a buffalo shot at about 70yards with the Federal 300g TBBC on a frontal presentation and you could not have asked for better bullet mushroom and weight retention. The bull ran about 50-70 yards and was standing broadside for the finisher with blood rushing out of his nose. He would have been stone dead in 2minutes without the finisher. I shot all my early buffalo with the AFrame and never had a bullet problem, although if a buff is shot quarting on or broadside through the shoulder sometimes you will see the base of the AFrame bulging. The TSX are what you want if you want maximum penetration. It probably depends on whether you want a shoot through or not. The 300g TSX will shoot through a buff broadside unless you shoot through both shoulders. That rarely happens. If you are going to primarily hunt herds then I would use the AFrame or TBBC. I have been using the Barnes lately because my rifles shoot them well and I like a shoot through. | |||
