Greg BrownleeTrophy shipping Fees? from Mozambique/ SA$2700.00 airfrieght bill
I just had a crate come by sea from Namibia, then on to Dallas and cleared them myself. We had a CITES animal in our shipment and a warthog as well (which both can cause problems) but we had the hog shipped to a registered tannery who takes care of swine and had all documentation ready when the crate arrived. 1 crate, 11 animals with capes and horns/skulls, $850.00 including shipping, vet inspection, and customs clearance. It was kind of a pain in the ass to get them through customs on this side, but not a big enough pain to pay an additional $2,000 to have coppersmith do it.

470EDDYGreg; WELL DONE, MATE!!
HOORAY... we are making progress...this is an effort that needs to be worked by every hunter, PH/outfitter and booking agent...to cut out this insidious interloping that has invaded our sport...costing each of us $$THOUSANDS$$, each and every time we let it happen. IT IS NOT NECESSARY and each of us need to work together to get this back on track...as in the good old days!!
I think you might have found this process just as much of a P..I..T..A if done by "agents", at least that is what I have found in the past when they slipped into my consignments!!
Also, we do, as Citizens, have the rite to clear our own trophies, regardless of "local USF&W office policies as Bijon ran into in Denver"...we have to gently push the envelope to get cooperation, kicking it up a knotch with head office, or even our Senators or Congressmen...heaven help us on the latter...after Health Care!!
CHEERS!!
