Can anyone clear this up for me?
I believe I've read in the past that Harry used the 30-06 Springfield for plains game smaller than Kudu, the .375 H&H magnum for large plains game, lion and buffalo and the .416 for elephant. Am I correct or did I read something inaccurate from internet articles recently. Of course, Harry is welcome to reply to this question.

Thankx in advance,

jfm

I know he used a pre-64 Winchester 300 H&H on his Brown Bear.

FYI, I have been chatting with HArry in regards to these and he, in fact, did not ever own these and has contacted the seller to inform them as such. He stated he has never owned a single Purdey, much less a matched pair. The old proverb stands true here, caveat emptor .

I often kid folks that if every Paul Jaeger rifle out there was authentic, he must have turned out a rifle every 45 seconds during his lifetime...starting in the first grade!

Biebs you are right and I can't figure why that is the case, because most real P. Jaeger rifle are not the quality the price would indicate. In fact most Jaeger rifles were not made by Jaeger anyway but guys working in his shop! For about three years the best Jaeger rifles ever comeing out with the P.Jaeger name on them were actually, in fact, made by Maurice (Mac) McCain!

Excellent due dilligence! Wonder where these folks come up with their "information"?!

As I recall, my father used Mr. Selby's .375 to shoot his buffalo, in 1965. [/IMG]

I have several hundred pictures from that trip (many posted a couple years ago on AR), and this one is probably my favorite. I had it printed on canvas and framed and gave one to my father and have one in my office.

Here are some links to other threads on my father and grandfather's safaris in the 50's and 60's. I don't post much here , you can click on my username and pull up a list of the posts. I had a ton of fun cataloging all the old pictures.
