Hey guys, Can someone recommend something from Safari Press's current inventory. I have a little holiday coming up and would like to get a couple new books. http://www.safaripress.com/books/africa.html Also, does anyone know where I can get a copy of Pierre an der Walts African Dangerous Game Cartridges in North America?

I am sure all these books are interesting. But, I suggest you get yourself an Amazon Kindle account. Buy a Kindle, or just down load the Kindle app on your ipad. You then have access to thousands of African hunting books from the Kindle store. Some are free.

I just read 'Kambaku!' by Harry Manners. It was excellent. I have read many of the 'old time' Africa books, and enjoy most. But this was exceptionally well written. I'm going to re-read it after I finish what I'm on now. Got a lower price at Midway USA on this one. Harry was hunting ivory for income when Wally Johnson (The Last Ivory Hunter, Capstick) was. They were buddies. One of my absolute favorites, I've read it half a dozen times, is 'The Hunting Imperative' by Richard Harland. More modern setting, well written and full of dangerous game adventure. Enjoy!

If you have not read it "MONTHS OF THE SON" is my all time favourite hunting book! All of Richard Harlands are excellent and I also very much enjoyed Kambaku.

I will 3rd this. And get Buzz’s elephant video so you can hear his voice, THEN read the book in his voice. That guy was as complicated as they come. A great book would have loved to heard his stories in person over tea.... As mentioned Kambaku is also a super book. Those will keep you busy.

I haven't read it, but I've listened to the audiobook probably 6 times since being introduced to it by my PH's last Sept. My first listen was driving through KNP on my last day in RSA after the hunting was through.

I am a big fan of his books. Mike, he just released two books recently. Although he has a ghost writer/assistant these days, it’s atill good. His book released last year just arrived, but being a good son, I’m letting my father read it first. I meant to be DSC Member...bad typing skills. Marcus Cady DRSS

I used to read Wilbur Smith. Asigai was the last one. It was very silly, not like his old books at all.

Above mentioned books all good. I would add Fred Everett’s first book “Heat, Thirst and Ivory” to the list. I would add that his second book, “Tuskers in the Dust” was disappointing.

Not African hunting, but I just finished re-reading Jim Corbet's 5 volume set on India and his hunts for man eaters there. The books are small so you can tuck them in a hip pocket and go. That guy was either bat shit crazy or really, really good. kh
