Elephant and Rhino skins

stuntpilot2Elephant and Rhino skins
I'd appreciate hearing how anyone has seen tanned Elephant and Rhino skin used beyond the following:
We're already on track to have shoulder mounts made, a guncase created from the Elephant trunk, African wall maps from the ears, and stools/ice buckets from feet. I've got a custom boot maker lined up for a pair from each as well.
That said, there remains a large portion of leather that will be left over. What are the alternatives for use? I would also consider charitable donation, although the few I've approached already left me with no uncertain impression that their "green" leanings would preclude accepting the same.
Thanks in advance,
Stuntpilot

Irish PaulMotorcycle seats.
My Harley's seat is made from elephant ear - looks and lasts better than leather, and gets a lot of inquiries and offers ro purchase.

From the name, stuntpilot, I assume your are a pilot?
You may appreciate the use I made of a piece of elephant hide a friend gave me.
It's on a Piper PA-11. It works great to eliminate the air flow between the bottom of the door and the fuselage.
I'm not a charity, but if you have an extra small strip about 6" by 3', I could use it on my Experimental Cub I'm building. I will, of course be willing to buy you an adult beverage of your choice?

Use Enough GunIf you want to see what I consider the FINEST belts, gunbelts and cartridge holders HAND MADE, check with fellow AR member Brad Rolston at 585Rolstonae@iafrica.com, or look on the website zulinyatisafaris.co.za. Brad does everything by hand and had Holland And Holland and Purdy asking him to do his leatherwork for them. Butch Searcy also has seen and liked Brad's work as well. Brad doesn't blow his own horn, but if you have tanned elephant and cape buffalo hide and you want him to make you some very nice items contact him.

Kyler HamannI just got some elephant leather back from the tannery.
I shoot a lot of competitive sporting clays and was thinking about having a shotgun shell pouch made. A belt or two would be nice as would a gun case and a rifle shell pouch. A laptop computer case might be a neat idea too.
My wife thinks she needs a purse out of it. Right now she just has the stuff draped around here and there like an elephant rug.
I think
Dick Murray does great work and I hope to have some things made by him.
By-the-way; for those people who said I was out of luck for having elephant hide tanned in the US...
Specialty Leather Processors proved them wrong. It's not cheap but their service is great and the finished product looks really good. The leather can be tanned in something like 15 colors. They also do feet and ears.

TJ,
I'd be honored to have some of my 2005 elephant flying with you. BTW, love the picture. I've got about 500 hours in a Decathalon which in some ways looks similar to your PA-11. More hours in various other military and civilian airframes. I'll send you a PM when the tanning is done.
Best Regards,
Stuntpilot

boom sticki would make a wallet and a custom knife holder for a skinner or bowie. i'd be glad to take some off your hands if you are sharing the wealth. 4"x8" for a wallet is all you need and for a bowie 3"x12" elephant ear for the wallet and rhino for the sheaths would be best. good luck

Mike ScottWhat about a portable tri-fold privacy screen? An ebony frame with leather panelsshould look pretty good.
