Mike Podwika and I will again be putting together a dinner for AR members. Last year we had a great time at Pappadeauxs on a Friday night. As some of you are aware, DSC has added an extra day for the convention so we are starting earlier in getting this arranged. Here are some choices we have.

Thursday or Friday night dinner?
Mexican or Texas style Steak house?
Texas De brazil?
Pappadeauxs?

Let me know so we can get it arranged for everyone.

Good Hunting

My vote is for a Friday night dinner as I think that will draw the largest crowd. The location makes little difference to me.

I thought last year was just great. Friday night a sit down supper and Saturday night a stand up party at Comfort Inn. As the other thread indicates, the conference room is reserved for Saturday anyway.

So... my vote is Pappadeaux's on Friday night. The room we had last year was just the right size, too.

I vote for Friday. I'll be flying in on Thursday and Friday would work great, then as JudgeG said, the "Stand-Up" and hopefully not "Fall Down" party on Saturday. Just tell me where to show up.

Send me info on the DSC. I will be joining the DRSS this August with a new Searcy 450 NE. Sounds like a different type of convention than what I attended in Reno? My email is

I leave tommorow for 10 days in Namibia but it looks like we are going to be at Pappadeauxs again on Friday night. We will keep everyone posted as to the menu items.

Rest assured that creme brulee will be on the desert menu!

At last year's dinner we took donations to have a rifle built that will be raffled to benefit the Sheryl Searcy Scholarship Fund. For everyone who participated or who might be interested, here's a work-in-progress photo of the rifle:

The stock is still being shaped as we speak. Take a look at the Scholarship Rifle thread to see a lot more photos of the rifle being built:

https://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/...043/m/347103474/p/12

I'm giving everyone fair warning, if you show up at the DSC dinner this year be prepared for an opportunity to purchase raffle tickets to win the rifle. My speech will be as be exactly as short or as long as it needs to be to get the desired result. Smiler

Many thanks again to everyone at the dinner last year.

Forrest

Jorge, Hopefully we'll be ready to launch ticket sales by late October. Start saving your Pesos. I'll set aside some lucky numbers just for you.

The rifle will make the rounds at Reno, DSC, and the NRA convention. The plan is to have the drawing and announce the winner at the NRA convention.

Everyone should take a look at the work in progress photos Duane Wiebe is posting on the Scholarship Rifle thread (beginning on page 12). Even if you have little or no interest in custom rifles, its eye-opening to see such craftsmanship on display. And its all MADE IN AMERICA!

Forrest:

Give us some details about the rifle. There are 14 pages on your link... just give us caliber, gunsmith(s), action, etc.

We gave a bunch last year and I hope we'll buy lots of lottery tickets!

Judge, how did you make it through law school with this aversion to reading? Smiler

Here are the basics on the rifle:

7X57
G.33/40 Mauser Action
Krieger Barrel (23")
Quarter Rib and banded sights
Custom bases and Talley detachable rings
Leupold VX3 1.5-5X Scope
Turkish Walnut Blank
Metal work by Tom Burgess and Mark Stratton
Engraving by Roger Kehr
Stocked, barrelled and detailed by Duane Wiebe
Financed and supported by hundreds at AR

The 14 pages (and growing) tell the story and purpose of the Scholarship Fund and the effort here to support it.

See you all in Dallas!
