Many years ago as a youngster I had the opportunity to a hunt a couple of times on a farm he owned many years ago that is now in the Timbavati.
I read the book as a 17 year old, unfortunately for some reason my brother inherited all the hunting books my father owned including this one. The opportunity to hunt there together with his vivid descriptions of Africa definitely shaped my love for Africa.
Now I am the avid hunter and my brother doesn't hunt at all. I am transferring my love of guns, Africa and hunting to my kids but my brother doesn't have kids.
I actually shot my first impala there.
My first two years as a young doctor I worked in Acornhoek.
