We obtained the following information at the recent NRA Hunters Leadership Forum meeting. It is rather shocking how opinions change when "trophy" in brought into the equation.

If this doesn't convince you that the SCI awards programs are doing us more harm that good, well, I guess you can't be helped.

That has been contested for decades. And quite frankly has been the biggest problem with all the runaway egos at SCI. They have been more interested in the record book than preserving hunting rights.

Thanks for sharing that Larry, Most of the information is surprisingly supportive. There are a few real surprises for me.

Anti hunting Mourning Doves?

Negative (40%) attitude towards the "challenge" of hunting.

Alaska being grouped with the States that are negative towards hunting.

Larry,

You could act like you are going to quote the post with the cleaner image. Then cut and past the "photobucket links" from my post and then go to your original and "edit" them in there replacing yours.

Good post Larry,

Granted I do live in the rural south. I am often asked about my hunting adventures by acquaintances. Most of them do not hunt.
Not long ago a female friend (she has seen my mounts)specifically asked me about trophy hunting. I explained to her that for most hunters the overall experience is more important than the size of the animal. If it happened to be a large older animal, it was just icing on the cake so to speak.
She then asked if big old "bucks" were any good to eat. Something she had read alluded to trophy hunters not eating the animal. I would classify this lady as fairly liberal. She seems to have no problem with me hunting for food. Some other aspects she not so sure about.
Pretty much aligns with the survey results.

I have walked in the foot prints of the elephant, listened to lion roar and met the buffalo on his turf. I shall never be the same.
