It might not matter all that much but I just read that the MAJOR Ethiopian Trophy Fee increases which were announced earlier have been postponed and will not take affect until July '09. According to the Hunting Report, hunters with scheduled safaris before and up to this time should not be subject to the new fees. Supposedly this delay will allow Government officials and Outfitters to try and reach a more rational arrangement. What I found remarkable was that Ethiopia had not increased costs since 1995. This strikes me as highly unusual, especially in Africa. However, such a dramatic jump seems unreasonable and would appear to be detrimental to the hunting industry in Ethiopia. | ||
