Had a great time hunting with you again Todd.
Thanks for sharing the experience.
Petty the video did not show the other bull 8yards and closing on your tail. Was a job well done by the whole team! And no self-defense or injury took part.
Shear hunting adrenaline and excitement. Memory's well saved!

Blake, a hearty welcome to AR. As always, I enjoyed hunting with you beyond description. Looking forward to doing it again and seeing you at the shows this year my friend. Great to see you post as I know you've read the forum for awhile now. We need to get Ray involved as well to provide the cameraman's perspective! From the responses, it appears several guys here have had adventure on those islands! What an interesting place to go after elephant, dugga boys, or hippo, eh? Thanks again Blake for providing such a memorable experience to go with last year's lion and buff pursuits!

To answer a couple of questions, D R, yes the first little mock charge was a cow. The second bull that chased us is only visible for a split second as the chase began. After that, he was just out of view of the camera. At the point where I give a very quick "Oh Shit", Ray had already cleared the next line of brush so neither he nor I are visible on the video at that point. The kill shot was 6 yards. The camera always makes things look a bit farther, especially the "GoPro" footage at the very end since it uses a very wide angle lens. Yes, I did complete the reload as the chase began, but as stated in my hunt report, when I looked back at the bull chasing us, he was too close for me to have stopped, turned, and fired accurately in defense. Blake had already established a defensive position about 3 or 4 yards ahead and had good control of the situation. As I ran past Blake, we both re-entered that brush and the bull lost sight of us which is preferred to having to shoot another animal in self defense.

Todd and Blake,

Well done on a great hunt.

Reminds me of some of the close calls we have had in both Chete and Matetsi.

The best part is all of you have gotten some unforgettable memories.

I downloaded the Full HD version, and it is great.

A question if I may, I notice you wear glasses as I do, any hints on stopping fogging during those sweating moments. I tend to sweat from the head more so than the wet shirt stuff and it can be a bloody nuisance at times. I see you took your cap off, I find this does help to keep glasses clear.

No kidding on the sweating. I have had to resort to glasses as well and October in the Valley was just awful with glasses.

Thanks Saeed. And yes, by all means, if you have the connection speed, it is available in 1080I. Unfortunately, you'll notice with the HD version, I had a small hole in the seat of my pants. Good news is that I had on clean underwear in the beginning. Even better is that there are no underwear shots AFTER the chase! Whistling

Glasses and fogging; yep a big problem and one I haven't solved completely. Tried the anti fogging spray a couple of times but it smears the glass and if you wipe it clean, there isn't enough residue remaining to keep them from re-fogging. PITA for sure.

Great video - thanks for sharing it, Todd. The memories came flooding back because Graham Cochrane and I played hide & seek with a nice old dagga boy on the very same island last year. Man was it thick - at times we could hear the buff breathing and even smell him, but he was too smart for us and we never saw him. Such times sure are good for cleaning out the ol' pumps fuel supply so thanks again for bringing them back to life. Doctari

Bwana Bunduki - a suggestion regarding your glasses fogging up. Before the croc's 'came on the bite' we used to spearfish regularly in both Lake Kariba and the Zambezi. Our goggles used to quickly fog up badly. The best solution was to was the inside really well with regular green kitchen washing-up liquid (Sunlight Liquid was the brand name) This worked really well when they were washed well before being put on every time. I'm thinking it might be worth a try.

Thanks Doc, yep those islands are something, eh? I watched a great video that Justin filmed of Myles and his archery client taking a nice old dugga boy in basically the same spot earlier in the year. Plenty of adventure available on those islands!

BTW, good advice on the glasses and anti fogging.

Jorge, the only part you left out was selecting Zone 5 Afterburner along with the Chaff, Flares, Break maneuver! patriot

Never a dull moment when hunting with Blake!

Very exciting video Todd, great shooting, I really enjoyed watching it (several times by now). Made a mistake last night letting my husband view it.

An awesome team the three of you. It is so obvious you enjoy your hunting with Blake, the big smiles of relief, the laughter between you really tells it all. Ray Buchanan is an excellent camera man, the footage he captured is outstanding.

The memories from this specific hunt will last forever is my guess.

JDOLLAR et al,

There are some participants on AR that are NEVER
deserving of responses to their posts. Let us NOT
allow these "tape worms" even a few seconds of
attention. They have no decency, no courtesy, etc.
They never concern themselves with being seen as
vile and "malodorous", and care not whom they of-
fend nor how often they offend. I am trying to start
a movement that results in ABSOLUTELY IGNORING
persons who come here and behave inappropriately
sans remorse. The fact is, if these types NEVER,
EVER get any responses to their posts, (even the
posts that are not rude) they lose all their "power"
and they will likely fade away. It's like boycotting
a business that has only rude employees and own-
ers. Eventually it has to die...
