Kabubi means party or celebration and the kabubi song although varying from area to area a bit, tels the story of the hunt etc. Things like how the animal was strong/up/powerful and the hunters were weak/down/less powerful and the hunter himself reversed the situation etc. - Not really very easy for me to translate properly. Perhaps BwanaMich who is considerably more fluent in Ki Swahili than I am might give a better explanantion Wink

I "bought" each staff member a beer and they got to sleep later the following morning - it remains one of my best memories.

ALLEN W. JOHNSON - DRSS

Into my heart on air that kills
From yon far country blows:
What are those blue remembered hills,
What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content,
I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Allen, Congratulations on your lion. That video is terrific to say the least. Pierre is a really great guy. I met him in Dallas on Saturday night and spent quite a while talking with him. I know you enjoyed your hunt. Congratulations again.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."
