Todd: That is hysterical.

How I carry my binos depends on terrain and how I am hunting. For years I wore them around my neck and down the front of my fatigue shirt. Probably one of many reasons I am having neck surgery next month.

I have two of the "sissy bras" which I like as they are more comfortable, keep the binos readily available and secure. I have one with a pouch that provides great protection for the binos if I foresee a lot of crawling on the agenda such as when red deer stalking. I prefer that form of carry much more than the "woman's purse carry technique"; also know as the Mark Sullivan carry. Big Grin

I have also been know to carry a pair of mini binos on a string inside my shirt if the situation dictates.

Using the "Find" function on this particular issue generates at least 20 threads hashing this silly topic to death. Let's see if we can summarize all those threads.

1) Harness - Not approved for Manly Men!

2) Over the offside shoulder, at the waist - Official method used and endorsed by Mark Sullivan, in other words, approved for Manly Men!

3) Mini Binos in the shirt pocket - Used by those who have been there, done that, and have the T Shirt to prove it, in other words, Manly Men who no longer need to prove they are Manly Men

4) Leave them in the cruiser - Used by those who rely on the PH for everything, including sorting things out when the situation goes "pear shaped", you know, the type who would say, "your best bet is a scoped 375". In other words, those who feel safe in the company of Manly Men!

I bought a pair of these new fangled mini shock cords that made up a chest harness or over your should. They can work in a dozen different configurations and you can wrap the cords around the barrels of your binocs to hold them tight to your chest.
I found them at the DSC last year. I think about $30.00
They are very light and leave you un encumbered.
Best gadget I have found for hunting in years.

Yup!! We want those Tsetse getting in any way possible. Big Grin

I use the Cal approved "sissy bra" but get a pass for cooking at the double shoot.

Jim, the only place I have ever seen more than an occasional tsetse fly was in the Selous in Nov. And even there they weren’t bad. I guess I have been lucky! But the one time I tried a bino harness was in the Zambezi Delta in Oct. I damn near roasted in a Columbia shirt with vented back and arm pits, which were kept closed by the bra....

"woman's purse carry technique";

I like that. Maybe the manly men who knock the harnesses aren't so manly after all!

You could tell where my shirt vents were in the Niassa because of the Tsetse welts. They were thick and vicious.

One of the reasons a pair of binos are factory supplied with a shoulder strap and not a bra.

As many have said, slung either left or right just below the armpit, depending on and opposite to the shooting shoulder is likely the more protected, comfortable and accessible position to carry. Quote by Fulvio.

Bought a 10x42 leica binocular yesterday-came with a bra. Leica branded bra.

My god...what a thread..honestly it becomes ridiculous.
2 pages and 50 Fuc!!ng reasons vs shoulder/chest vs armpit
First..try both and figure out what works.
Second..this”Bra” bullshit is nonsense. If these straps are a “bra” you may have some obesity issue.
I get the “October issue” and frankly it’s contradictory. People aren’t asking whether in Fukin?! 105 degrees heat in the Zambezi Fukin!?g valley what the deal is with your Fukin!?? Columbia vented armpit shirt. Did I say it’s Friday night and I’m having a couple of drinks?

I have no doubt that the factory would supply the client with a bra strap if requested.

All adverts I have come across show the product being offered with traditional shoulder strap; padded, wide, non-slip, etc. that is included in the price of the offered product.

The harness or bra is an accessory as the most common and popular form of carry is the traditional strap - the harness is for the eccentrics. Big Grin

An additional point on the under the shoulder carry: be sure that the strap is set to a length that requires just a little tension as you bring the binos up to your eyes with your off hand. Greatly aids in stability for one-handed use of the binos.

I'll always carry serious binos while hunting. The wild has much to see other than whatever might be quarry and I'm there to enjoy the entire experience...

I go with 3 or 4. Best choice is mini in shirt pocket, otherwise, PH can worry about it. 1 and 2 not a option.

I use the Harness method...have forever. I prefer not to be manly, running is better than standing and shooting, and if need be - I can use the harness to swing my binos and beat the buffalo off of the PH. Cool

Call me a sissy I guess. I prefer the Kuiu bino harness for my Swaro 10x42s, with a FHF rangefinder pouch attached. Protects the gear while crawling. Keeps them from bouncing, and they are readily and easily accessible with one hand.

My PH in South Africa in 2016 liked them, so I gave him mine and ordered a new one when I got home. A lot easier for me to get
