The danger of civilization, of course, is that you will piss away your life on nonsense
I've been home from Kenya for 32 days and it will be 131 days before I'm back in Africa again (Botwsana). Can't wait!

LV EricI dont know

, last year I was going to hunt around 30 days +/- 2 or 3, I had to call it off after about 10 or 11 because my back hurt so bad I couldnt stand it, and I wasnt about to take pain pills and go into the jess looking for elephants, this year 2 operations later, i'm still in thae exact pain, but we have it almost nailed down(the cause of the pain) so I wont be hunting this year, unless its a late season Nov-Dec left over elephant which I would be more than happy to do, but as it stands I wont be hunting this year. One thing you can count on is the year after the elephants better run for cover cause i'm making up for lost time,
I just turned 40 and have awalys taken care of myself-dont smoke, barely drink, went to gym for years without missing a work-out unless I'm hunting and I have been in bed mostly everyday for 20+ hours since Feb 06.
So i'm going to rely on my good friends here to handle the hunting for me this year, thanks guys, enjoy your hunts.
sorry about the spelling,
I missed that class.

Wow! Eric, I didn't know you had that much grief with your back! Hope you're 'back in the saddle' soon! Makes me feel like a real puss for whining about a few back spasms.
On a related note, I honestly think that having the means to be hunting Africa and not the physical health to do it (even temporarilly) must be FAR worse than having the health but not the means. I'd be a very cranky dude -- nothing frustrates me more than nagging injuries.
All the best,
Chris
ps: happy belated b-day! I am creeping up on 40 myself, but still a couple to go.

On hold indefinitely, sadly. I have 'blown my wad', so to speak, so I'll be savoring the memories of hunting cape buff in Tanz last year for a while. Short of a lottery winning or a huge raise, its looking like 2011 or 2012 optimistically (1500+ days

). It will happen again though...there is nothing like hunting cape buffalo in the land of the lion and elephant. In the meantime, no-one need feel too sorry for me...I'll get by hunting big horn sheep, stone sheep, moose, elk, mt goat, mule deer, bears, cougars...

Being a resident in BC has to be the next best thing to living in Africa.
Cheers,
Canuck

Fulldraw Outdoor Media56 days and counting down for me. I leave May 19th out of JFK.
May 19th - Leave out of JFK
May 20-27 - Film PG safari in RSA for a guy out of Texas.
May 28-June 10 - Nothing scheduled, going to do some hunting!
June 11-18 - Film PG safari in RSA for another Texan.
June 20-July 5 - Film Trophy Bull Elephant hunt in Botswana w/Johan Calitz. My first jumbo hunt.
July 6-19 - Film Cape Buffalo/PG in Tanzania
July 20-22 - Nothing scheduled, hunt some more!
July 23-August 1 - Linda (my wife) will be coming over for her first time. I'm not going to work any, may hunt if she wants to. I've got some friends who are going to take us through Kruger Park for a couple of days, sleeping in traditional tented camps the whole nine yards. Then we're going to head to a friend's camp for a few days before spending some time in Sun City playing around. These few days are all about showing her a good time.
August 1-16 - Film Cape Buffalo/PG safari in South Africa for yet another Texan. (Two camps)
August 17-18 - Nothing scheduled. If too tired to hunt, I may just get drunk.
August 19-Sept 1 - Film PG safari in RSA for 4 guys out of Michigan.
As you can see I'm going to be very, very busy this summer but my gosh I'm about to go stir crazy waiting for my departure date. I have some turkey hunts to film in April for TV so maybe that will help me keep my mind off Africa until then. Oh hell, who am I kidding?

Only 8 days left, not counting today and day of deprature...I´m starting to sort out my gear. I need new hunting shirts, the old ones are washed out...

Frank will each of the hunts require a new rifle?
25 March 2007, 05:30
Frank BellerI ordered a new .577 Searcy for the Tanzania hunt. I'm taking a Ruger .458 Lott to Australia, and may buy one of the Ruger Alaskan .375's for the brown bear. Never pass up an excuse to buy another gun .....
