safari-lawyerWhat did you buy?
Someone always starts a thread about this time of year on the topic of what did you buy/what did you book at DSC or SCI.
So, what did you book or buy this show season?

larryshoresA V-C 500 NE and a gun case for travel.
Still debating the hunts.
06 February 2012, 13:46
d.ungerA couple boxes of swift bullets, ordered a custom CZ 550 in .416 Rigby, got fit for a pair of Russell Moccasin Ph boots, and a couple books. Went their with a friend from Wisconsin to decide on a buffalo hunt for 2013, one of the outfitters needed this week to get us some info (Chifuti or Kilombero North Safaris), other wise there would have been a buffalo hunt booked. This week I hope.

ozhunterThis question is why I do not travel to this show.

Could be mighty costly..

Are you interested in adopting a grown son? I have already been potty trained, I can be decent company, particularly if I have been drinking, know how to mow and take out the trash . . . Just let me know.

SBTUnexpectedly, I bought a 5 day Tahr hunt for two hunters in New Zealand with Four Seasons Safaris for 2013. They seem like a great outfit.
We are also close to closing a deal on a Chinesse Water Deer and Muntjac hunt in England.

KathiTwo books, Gamemasters of the world by Chris Klineburger and Adventures in the wild places by J. Alain Smith.
My husband booked a hunt he has been wanting to do for a while, Karakoram Blue Sheep in Northern Pakistan with Anchan Mirza of Karakurum Treks and Tours.
Anchan said the hunt will occur in either the Shimshal Valley or the KVO (Khunjerab Village Organization). If flying to Gilgit from Islamabad is cancelled due to bad weather, then it is a two day drive up the Karakoram Hwy. The drive up the highway is supposed to be an incredible experience.

I hunted with Anchan for the blue sheep the first year the govt issued permits. As far as I know I was th efirst foreigner to LEGALLY hunt a blue sheep. We hunted the KVO. Went in March so due to cloudy weather we had to make the 2 day drive. That is not by any means a strecth when the say 2 day drive. A few places we were asked to get down in the van and not be seen. Saw quite a few anti American paintings. From there we drove to Skardu to hunt himalayn ibex. On the way back we had to travel at night. The military put us in a convoy and gave us 2 soldiers for our vehicle with belt fed weapons.
Don't let me scare you off, it was an awesome experience and I would do it again in a heartbeat.
I felt going in that I was going to have a "Russian" expereince, totally disorganized and with little in way of supplies. Quite the opposite, Anchan cleared us thru custom in about 5 minutes. Had a hotle set up for us to shower before we began our long drive. Every detail was handled with efficiency and with our best interest. His uncle came along nad had served politically in the north, every where we went people bowed to him and showed great respect.
I shot a very nice blue sheep on day 1, actually before we even got to our first camp site. The ibex took 3 days and some climbing ropes and crampons, quite the adventure.
Anchan does a grear job and will take care of your husband whiel in country.

tendrams, I have spoke to a lot of dall sheep outfitters over the years doing research and I really felt comfortable with Tim. He has nothing but great references. I am looking forward to taking a great ram with them this summer!

I used one of these in Botswana and it was an amazing gun! I actually used the lighter "titanium" series and even though the thing weighed around 5.5 lbs scoped, it kicked about like a .270. Loud, but awesome gun!
