I assume you are flying out of the US, so you would look on Northwest Airlines website as they are KLM's American partner.

I have flown a lot with KLM. One difference is the cabin luggage is restricted much more than in the US - you often cannot get anything over 10 kilos (memory might be wrong here) in the cabin, but going over is no problem, since you will most likely be on NWA. In Europe they ask you to drop your carry on onto a scale.

But if you fly out directly on KLM, they might give you some grief.
