Thanks to that rat bastage "retreever" I am now addicted to Africa. Did buff in RSA...then plains game there. Now I have this uncontrollable itch to hunt an elephant. I'm looking at an own-use hunt for elephant with Jamy Traut in Namibia while my buddy ( wounded warrior hunt ) hunts plains game at Jamy's place nearer Windhoek. After my ele hunt, I'd join my buddy for a couple days before we come home. Critique my plan:
- Jamy Traut. I just can't find an unhappy client. Anyone have a bad experience. PMs welcome.
- ATL to JNB (overnight) to WDH...buddy drives w/PH to farm/ranch and I fly to Caprivi Strip. I join buddy at farm for a couple days before we fly home.
- Replica tusks based upon measurements. Taxidermy of Springbok and Black Wildebeest. All assumes success.

Your thoughts and suggestions are welcome, as always.

I’ve hunted w Jamy. He is one of the best. Runs a great operation. Knows what he is doing. There is a reason he has happy clients. 163bc

Matt,

I've had very happy clients with Jamy for non-trophy and trophy elephant. I have not had hunters doing PG with him but I would expect it to be very good and everybody to be adaptable to your buddies special needs.

You can't go wrong with Jamy's outfit. Ask for Emile Kirchner as your Ph for the elephant hunt. He is an elephant hunting machine and a hell of a nice guy to boot.He got me on 2 elephants in 14 days. Jamy is a great guy too and his entire group is top shelf. Good Luck

My friend from Melrose hunted with Jamy last year and couldn’t stop talking about his great hunt
I will have to check his own use elephant hunts
Something to ponder...

Can't go wrong with Jamy, really good outfit. You should have a great time hunting over here. What time of the year were you planning your hunt? As elephant movement differs throughout the season.

I think you will find a non-exportable elephant hunt much less expensive in Zim than in Namibia ... but I don't know what you are paying so not sure.

If you are set on Namibia, I would recommend avoiding JNB for a number of reasons.

1. The govt has gone mad and the airport is a den of thieves
2. You will need to get firearms permits for your overnight stay in RSA
3. You can fly to Windhoek on Quatar or Ethiopian bypassing RSA altogether.

June/July usually are good months. August is sometimes a bit slower. Should be fun!
