Went at the beginning of September, weather was fantastic, we were in NG32 (Okavango Delta) so water was not an issue as it was
island hunting accessed by boat.

Best of luck on your hunt. Botswana is a fantastic destination.

Link has photos.

I hunted NG41 in May. The timing was suppose to be for (IIRC) Marula nuts ripe that time of year and the bulls stick around longer?

I don't know if that really means anything, but we looked at 20-25 bulls every day. Shot a 61 on day 4 or 5 in the Mababe depression.

What GMA are you looking at?

I hunted NG41 for Elephant and Hayena while Bwana Mojo (Marc Watt) hunted NG32 for Lion. Once we were both done with primary species, we switched camps. I hunted Red Lechwe and Tsessebe in the Delta and Marc hunted Jumbo in NG41.

It was 2006 but my gosh there was sooooo much game.

Sixteen years is an eternity in Africa as far as concessions. I've seen concessions come back from being heavily poached in less than that amount of time and it would take even less time for one to go from great to south. Might still be great, but wouldn't base a decision on 2006.

Jubaleigh,

Lavaca is probably right. My experience there means zilch.

Its probably devoid of game now. :roll eyes:

However, It shares a long cutline road with Chobe park. But...

Steve,

Not saying it doesn't mean anything. Just saying I'd want updated info.

GMA's being depleted notwithstanding, hunting NG32 was truly amazing. We hunted Lechwe & Tsessebe in Mokoro's, polled along silently by our tracking team.

If I were to ever go back, I'd prefer NG32 over NG41, just due to the magnificent beauty of the delta.

Hint: If hunting in a Mokoro, sit in either the front, or third position. Second position gets all the spiders dumped on you. The Mokoro spreads the grass apart, the web gives after the front passenger goes under, dumping stuff on #2. Cool

Great experience.

Put Joyce in the front. Some of these spiders had shoulders.

Another oddity in the Delta; We had a Red Lechwe in the Mokoro. It was at the front, head kinda hanging over the edge. We polled past a tour boat, full of horrified German tourists, all snapping pictures.

The Lechwe I shot, I had wounded. We tracked it for a while, in and out of the water several times. As we approached it emerging from the water, at one point, a Leopard jumped out of the grass and landed on it's back!!

Every sportsman should experience the Okavango Delta.

I just got back from NG 41 in august. It was great. Saw 6 of the Dangerous 7 and took a nice elephant. Weather was awesome and NO BUGS at all.

To answer myself, yes it became part of the Ramsar sites in Botswana. Photographic area still operated by Calitz.

Where did you shoot your Elephant? Mine was about 250 yards inside the hunting area off Chobe park cut-line road. We were pretty close to the village of Mababe.
