I've made three trips to hunt Africa in my life. I know, I know, I'm a rank beginner compared to alot of people on the board. My big problem is space. I'm down-sizing on retirement and won't have room for the mounts I've got at present. I've quit having native North American game mounted for right now, too. Before my life is over, I'd like to hunt Africa a time or two again. My question is; do I have to bring what I shoot home? Can't I just take more pictures and put them on disk for posterity? What are the legalities of something like this? What say the more experienced of the board? Thanks. I've heard of a few people who have decided to just take pictures. One other option for you would be to find a local business that would be willing to display your mounts. Sporting goods shops, gun shops and resteraunts will often be more than willing to display your mounts. Yes it's cocked, and it has bullets too!!!

Joe, nothing says you must bring home all your trophies. Your PH can use them at his own discretion. Many times he will have a client who will destroy or ruin an animal with a bad placed shot or use a large bore soft point on a small animal. Your gift could be used to replace this Hunters trophy. Not a problem. Just ask your PH and he'll help you sort this out. I have several clients that no longer bring trophies home. Just lots of pictures and great memories. BTW: As per usual, nothing goes to waste. The meat, offal, bones, horns, hide and skin. All will be used. I have made 8 safaris to Zimbabwe. My total trophies are 1pr Elephant tusks,2 Zebra rugs(one was a gift from my PH that he had tanned unbeknowest to me) 2 sets of Warthog tusks. I have killed most everything several times over. I just have no desire to have trophies. I have a fully decorated home and no place to put them if I did want them. I do however have vivid memories of every shot and MANY pictures and if digital cameras had been out when I started would have MANY MANY more. I tried to limit myself to 20 rolls of APS film (I used a Canon Elph and then a digital Elph which meant it was ALWAYS in my shirt pocket)per trip as I couldnt afford to have more processed. Memory cards are cheap. SCI Life Member NRA Patron Life Member DRSS
