I'm trying to decide the height to make a pedestal for a Gemsbok Shoulder Mount.

I'd like the eyes of the Gemsbok to be about eye level...can anyone that has a Gemsbok on a Pedestal measure the length from the top of the pedestal to the (animals) eyes?

We had Christmas dinner today because everyone could get home. Is a rare and wonderful event ... but folks are pooped. Will have to measure the mount for you tomorrow;

I'm making one just like this for my Gemsbok. The pedistal is 29" from the floor.

Mine measures 27" from the top of the pedestal to the center of the Gemsbock's eye. He was not a big fella with only 35" horns.

Mims Reed, aka Harry, of this forum has a couple of beautiful mounts. Perhaps, he can post them again!

I finished 2 pedestals a few months ago, a Kudu and a Zebra

The Kudu pedestal from the floor to the top of the pedestal measured 26 inches, that put the eye level even with yours, (if your 5'10 inches to 6' tall). I would say a Gemsbok would be close to the same, maybe go 3 inches taller on the pedestal base.

I just measured your form and it is 30" from where the brisket sets on the base to the top of the eye socket.

Good Jerry!

So from the floor to the eyes with a 28 to 30 inch base would make it 58 to 60 inches, eye level!

There you go! Perfect!

Thanks, Jerry. I was sitting around figuring my angles and measurements last night and didn't want to call you that late. I think the top of the pedestal will end up right at 36" which will put the eyes at about 5'-6".

Thanks Rusty,
I don't have walls tall enough to put these folks so I had them put on pedestals so I can place them in the house where and on what I want. They are also "fixed" where they will hang on a wall when and if I get a trophy room and want to make a change.
