Ladies and Gentlemen,

We arrived safely in our camp last night, completely forgetting that next day was going to be Walter's birthday.

Alan Vincent, however, did not forget, and orgenized a wonderful breakfast and a BBQ dinner in his honor!

We're all looking forward to your great play-by-play of the safari. Tell Walter hello for me and a happy birthday. I think he's only a few years older than Ray.. so he's only 108 or so?

If the people from my deer camp get a look at this they're going to start expecting a little more from the cook. Is there any way to lock this thread down? Fuzzy up the pictures?

With such a nice spread of food you might have a hard time getting me out of camp; whether it be from me having eaten too much or me wanting more to eat.

Saeed, in the first picture, what is the fruit on the top left of the plate and the fruit on the bottom right of the plate?

Top is passion fruit, bottom is leaches!

I am sorry to tell you all this was a little joke, hatched yesterday as we all sat here in our shooting room.

It happened after Walter tried to amputate his big toe by sticking it in the door and closing it over it!

This in turn happened after Nelson went down the tunnel to change targets, and Walter fired a blank in the tunnel.

Nelson became airborne.

These jokers will stop at nothing for a laugh.

We were lucky in having metal framed chairs. As Dwight has a habit of laughing so much he actually breaks the chair he is sitting on. He did this at Matetsi.

Yesterday he was laughing so much and shaking on his chair Walter announced we must be having an earthquake!

The photos above were taken at a resort in the Maldives, where we were last week.

We are going to be heading to the airport in about 2 hours time, and hope to get you a report from there tomorrow.

The Vincents are already at the camp, and Roy promised - AGAIN - to repay Walter for all his past debts to him.

Walter is VERY upset right now, as apparently he is so excited he did not manage to pack and sleep until 4 in the morning.

I discovered this after I called him at 5 to make sure he is awake when we pick him up at 7.

Now I think we are really in for it.

He will be in such a cantankerous mood, he will probably forget his passport and air ticket.

We got one of those super duper 22 match air rifles here, and were shooting it two days ago.

And as is usual, the only thing certain about 22 rim fire is its inconsistency.

Walter was having a go at me and Dwight for shooting groups that we were not too happy with.

So I suggested we have a friendly shooting match - all four of us. Walter, Nelson, Dwight and myself.

Walter agreed, and asked what the proze is going to be.

I told him as we are 4, first, second and third will get to go to Tanzania.

The looser will have to stay home!

Walter "This is anothe conspiracy to keep ME from going hunting! I am not shooting"

Me "Fine, you get disqualified then, and we go and you stay!"

Every one was laughing - but Walter.

Good Luck,

My hunting crew is always up to mischief, last year I had my eyes glued shut with super glue and the some schmuck let off the .416 right outside of my window.

Needless to say it was pandamonia... but I am scheming somethin up for next year, say an electrically charged urinal.... hmmm

Enjoy the hunt
