My wife and I are here and the show was busy yesterday, much busier today (Thursday). Outfitters we’ve visited with are happy, much better show than Atlanta.

My wife and I are at the show. I have attended DSC shows for more than 15 years because it was close to home, but with the move to Atlanta I finally decided to attend SCI. It’s been a great show. I’ve picked up a handful of auction items and booked a big hunt.

All of the exhibitors I’ve met with have said they’re having a good show and selling hunts.

I can relate to the sore/hurting feet!
I checked the day auction today and it was very well attended, the few items I saw being sold did pretty well.

The Show was rocking today….
All the Exhibitors I know and have talked to are extremely pleased.
Even just Wed I was told numerous times they had already exceeded the entire DSC show.
The failure of DSC Atlanta was quite the buzz too

Glad it's going well. I had to cancel last minute for personal reasons and I really wish I could be there.

Today, show has been open about 30 minutes and it’s hard to walk the aisles because there are so many people. Good thing for SCI and exhibitors.

Went W-Th.

Hoppin. Just busy as shit.

I'm fn pissed as I have a real vested interested in DSC.

Even though it's only a 5 hr drive, it's not the travel: two of my boys live there- one Downtown and my baby is getting his doctorate at UNT.

So I'll always switch weeks if I'm scheduled to work DSC and SCI if it lands and I'm off I'll go.

But I have always attended DSC since my oldest moved there.

The show is over! Appears it was a huge success for club and exhibitors, i honestly think that attendance records were set for at least two days, maybe more.
I think it was a very good show, didn’t book any hunts but bought a suppressor from Silencer Central (they said they sold 290 suppressors on Friday alone!). Other exhibitors reported very good sales, too. Saw Todd Williams and his son Austin as well as DLS from AR, good show!
Heard about 6 different rumors regarding DSC and their future. Also heard quite a few not-rumors about good outfitters not going back to Atlanta if that is where the DSC show is next year.

That was a BUSY week. Aisles were very tight Friday and this morning. Most of the big named outfitters were a wait to speak with due to others talking to them. The Weatherby Awards Weds night were sold out at 800 attendees. Skipped Thurs and Fri night events, about to head to the event tonight.

The outfitters I talked to all said they had good weeks. I'll be interested the total number of attendees when SCI publishes, they were consistent/strict about scanning everyone's badge as they entered.

I thought this year’s show was fantastic. I hope they’ll keep it in Nashville indefinitely. Bteer than Reno or Las Vegas and I imagine, New Orleans. I believe moving out of Nashville will be a mistake they’ll regret if they leave.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t make it to the SCI show this year.

I’m so glad to hear it was such a success, especially after DSC’s debacle of a debut in Atlanta.

We’ve always chosen SCI over DSC, and although nothing in life is certain, I’m pretty sure we always will.

I thought it was a great show and conveniently situated just across the street from the Omni where my family and I were staying. I enjoyed the auction and Dirks Bently concert after, but the food was not all that.

This is what I’ve heard so far…
1) DSC is “buying out” the contracts for future dates in Atlanta and moving to San Antonio (remember one of the reasons they moved to Atlanta was the convention center in San Antonio was being remodeled Wink)
2) A donor is buying out the contracts and moving show to San Antonio.
3) DSC and HSC are having a joint convention in Houston (same as #1, convention center not big enough, no idea how they could work out how to divide funds).
4) DSC and HSC are being bought by wealthy member.
5) DSC is being bought by group of wealthy individuals.
6) DSC is being bought out by a single wealthy individual and moving to San Antonio (heard this one from two reputable, well placed sources, name mentioned could certainly afford it.)

These are all rumors, but I do know there are people interested in exploring a buy out of some sort.

This does not solve much from my standpoint.

As long as DSC wants to stay a Texas organization, they will be a second class institution.

The old DSC, despite the name, reached to non Texas, non African hunting.

I joined SCI bc they came East first.

DSC failures are far deeper than coming East. SCI has done it and done it well. I bet it has had a positive on membership.

When DSC pulls its head out of its ass and comes home, you guys need to come to DSC. I'll take you guys to the best steak house in Dallas.

It was my plan to attend to DSC this year. The week of the show an uncle passed away, the funeral was Thursday. By the time everything was over there was the ice/snow in Atlanta so I decided to go the Nashville.

I purchased tickets for Thursday and Friday and secured a hotel room in Nashville, all set to go. Then they started calling for snow in south Louisiana. I mostly ignored the weather forecast because it does not really snow on the coast.

We ended up with nearly a foot of snow and a giant traffic mess. We are not prepared for that kind of snow, that coupled with water issues I decided not to go.

At that point the tickets were non-refundable, but I sent an email explaining the situation and requested a refund.

To SCI's credit they refunded both my ticket and my wife's ticket, it was a pleasant surprise.

I hated missing the show but at least SCI worked with me on the ticket price.
