RHS, I have been receiving shipments from Cawston from last years hunts without any problem. I have also hunted Cawston, it is 40,000 acres and the Sable herd is amazing to say the least.
No problems with my clients trophies being sent out of Zimbabwe. Especially Cawston. Rosslyn Safaris has been doing tropies for 30+ years and know how to work the system. It does take a while though, 6 - 8 months. The latest problem (Jan/Feb) is when the government decided to change the forms and procedure for exporting tropies. They applied this change to tropies already cleared. Operators had to start all over again with the new forms. The government then decided it would only apply to this years hunting season and tropies. So the operators had to start again with the paper work. "AWA" Africa Wins Again!
It looks like a very very good price, how do you manage to offer that price ...
More important is how have you guys managed to remain free from the government thugs infiltrating the place and putting pressure on the operation as they are doing throughout the country ??

HI PETER, THE PRICE IS JUST FOR REMAINDER OF THIS YEAR. NOT OR 2005. HAD A FEW POSTPONED HUNTS SO DATES ARE OPEN STARTING IN SEP. CAWSTON HAS HAD ITS PROBLEMS LIKE MOST OTHERS. WERE INVADED AT THE FIRST AND TOOK SOME DOING TO GET EVERYONE OFF BUT HAS WORKED. PETER AND CAROLE JOHNSTONE CONTINUE TO WORK WITH THE LOCAL PEOPLE AND THE GOVERNMENT WITH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT OF THE LOCAL PEOPLE LAND AND TRYING VERY HARD TO GET THEM INVOLVED IN HUNTING AND PROPER WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT. PETER AND CAROLE JOHNSTONE ARE VERY WELL RESPECTED BY MOST OF THE BLACKS IN THE AREA AS WELL AS THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT.
I am sympathetic with them operating in trying circumstances and my thoughts go out to all those legit operators in Zim's ... I am also dissapointed at those getting into bed with the villians, BUT that is life in Africa today, one tends to flow with the tide or the only other choice is to bugger off with the shirt on your back so to speak .. What is the old saying if you cant beat em sell your sole and join em
Keep up the good work and have a wonderful season
Regards to all those in Zim's
Peter ( old Rhodie from the good days in Bulawayo )
