Looking for some ideas about where to go for my next hunting trip. My hunting partner will be making his third trip to Africa and while he needs to fill in some plains game holes in his trophy room he is wanting to try for a buffalo also.

I am looking to add leopard , maybe a buffalo and some plains game as well. I have most all of the more common plains game species already.Interesting targets of opportunity would be considered a bonus. By this I mean PAC,baboons, hyenas, etc.

We can dedicate 14-17 days hunting and three days travel time each way.

I know this can be done in Namibia, (I love Namibia), but looking to see some new country.
I appreciate any ideas and the more creative the options, the better.

We seldom get to choose
But I've seen them go both ways
And I would rather go out in a blaze of glory
Than to slowly rot away!

Maybe give West Africa (Benin, Burkina) a look? No Leopard up there but it would certainly be a change of pace in terms of scenery, species, and hunting. Savannah Buff, Western Roan, Sing-Sing, Bubale, etc. Some outfitters offer Lion. Very reasonable Trophy Fees when compared to other regions of Africa.

Just a suggestion.

Eyedoc

Mozambique Options:

Central Mozambique / Sofala Zambezi Delta / Marromeu Complex

Good density of:

Buffalo, Chobe Bush Buck, Nyala, Suni, Red Duiker, Watebuck, Reedbuck
Lichtenstein’s Hartebeest , Hippo, Croc, Sable, Elephant

Reasonable chances of:

Blue Duiker, Oriby, Eland,

Forget the area for Impala, Kudu, Zebra, Lion

Tete Province

Depending on area good populations of:
Lion, Elephant, Buffalo, Kudu, Sable, Roan (if Legal), Bushbuck, Lichtenstein’s, Hippo, Croc, Waterbuck, Grysbuck, Duiker

Niassa

Good density of:
Elephant, Livingstone Eland, Roosevelt Sable, Lichtenstein’s, Waterbuck, Leopard, Lion, Kudu, Duiker, and Buffalo depending on area between good to not so good

Reasonable chances of:

Zebra, (Limited Quota) Niassa Wildebeest, (Limited Quota)
Impala, Hippo, Croc.

That said if I would look for Leopard and Buff. Niassa is the place to go with addition of Livingstone Eland, Roosevelt Sable, Lichtenstein’s Hartebeest.
And if you can get quota Niassa Wildebeest,

I Would go ..

For Big Elephant, Niassa on second place Tete.

For Lion. Tete or Niassa, both will do

For Buffalo= the Zambezi delta second Tete

For Leopard= Niassa

For Hippo and Croc= Tete and Zambezi Delta

For Eland= Niassa

For Kudu =Tete and Niassa

Lictenstein’s all areas

Sable all areas

Nyala, Suni, and Red Duiker =Zambezi Delta

Keep in mind that is general speaking and you find better areas and not so good areas in all provinces and within provinces depending on species, game densities are different

Have fun planning

Mozambique. If you want real chances to take real trophies, Mozambique is THE place. Have you seen the quality of trophies coming out of there? I'm giving up some great hunting time here to go over this fall. Our new camp will be open for hunting for the first time and I want to take advantage of it. Look into it. It's about as wild as wild gets. Good hunting, David

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."
