Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Yeah the missing tail is my mistake, we stalked tis croc for 2 days, but he never climbed completely out of the water, very wary, So I never saw the tail was missing about 2.5 feet,

When we pulled him over and out of the channel, I was so dissapointed, this is a huge croc, even without that tail, wit it ???

I estimate him too have been just under or over 16 feet,

The warthog was 15 inches, the client said she wanted a bigger pig than her husband, who shot a 12 inch pig in Cameroon earlier, so thechaleeng was huge, at one of our waterholes there are a couple of big pigs been seen, so we went there, on arriving there was no action, and whilst walking the water checking the tracks, this pig ran straight tin, we have never seen him before, which is not diffycult on a concession 800 000 acres in extent,

The client killed all her trophies with a 375 H&H with Federal 300 grain Nosler Partitions,

ALL ONE SHOT KILLS, the insurance shots on the croc was just that insurance, as acouple of days later the husbands croc went into the water due too bad shot placemnt and admiring the first shot, and not following advice,

A wounded croc is damn diffycult too track

Gentlemen,

All I can say by now is, I love Croc hunting, but by golly do not think yo can get one with Hail Mary shot or even low cost bullets, sa it again now, big crocs hve huge bone struure too break through on side shots,

And even on body shots, 375 and 416 does not exit !!!

Well done! A really great croc, the most underestimated trophy in Africa. Too bad on the husbands, I have seen that scene played out too many times myself. Shoot, shoot again, and keep shooting.. even more so on the big boys.
Good job my friend.

Thanks Dave

Just spoke too my PH, they recovered the Husbands croc, 500 metersfom where h was shot, unforunately decomp has ruined the skin, but the skull will be awesome, 15.5 Feet as well,

Yes I agree, I always maintain that a big croc is a awesome trophy, and when shooting, keep on till PH says stop, and do not admire the damn shot, reload and shoot again

My rules says, first shot on the neck, behind the skull, second shot on the shoulder, third shot on the pelvis, and then admire the croc
