Jorge,

Please don't try to confuse adrook and his buds with facts. I've personally discussed the BG issue with Craig and it is as you describe - he was sent to Afganistan as a task force commander. The billet was for a BG and Craig was "frocked" and told to wear the insignia of a BG and some weenies cried about it. Unfortunate to say, some of the whiners were Marine officers and ring knockers.

I booked a hunt in a place where CB will be hunting the near future. They told me point blank that they offered him the same deal I got - he is paying the same as me.

I do not care who pays for what, but I do not see him as the kind of person pandering for hunts. No need to.

Also, I find the entire "donated hunt" industry a crock. I saw on one of the threads where some one was selling a donated hunt they bought at an SCI event. You get what you pay for in life, a free hunt is not free. I would not take one if offered one. How can the outfit make money giving hunts away?

That is crazy - nilly

Lion Hunter: Yep that is exactly what happened and I wanted to make it CRYSTAL CLEAR about Craig's issue with the Crotch. If people don't like his writing style FINE, but I'm just not gping to let bold faced lies go unchallenged, like that bullshit about Craig pressuring outfitters for hunts. Not going to happen. Cheers, jorge

personally. i think acrook and cowchip are the same person- just like michael and janet jackson are the same person., have you ever seen michael and janet together simultaneously/ have you ever seen cowchip and acrook post responses at the same time, allowing for delays in the internet posting? i think CB is a plus to the cause of international hunting and with bullshit like this, it is easy to see why he doesn't post more. the unfortunate part is that cowchip/acrook fill in the gaps.

Seems as though this thread has spawned quite a few more.
From a fellows perspective that is planning his first Safari in 2011 (yours truly). I can tell you that I enjoy watching CB DVD's and shows. I have hunted all my life, all over North America and am very famaliar with quality equipment and hunting in general (rifle and archery). Craig is not going to sell me any products and I doubt many on this forum either but he has to pay for his business as we all do.
The path to the consumer in the manner of hunting stories has changed over the past twenty years and is becoming more expensive all the time. Hunting is a HUGE business. Look back 30 years ago. It was an inexpensive past time for most folks.
Face it; Hunting is BIG Business and CB is trying to make a living out of something he enjoys. I have met with him and visited a number of times and I typically buy one of his recent publications for my son and he will sign it. He has always been a gentleman.
There are not many people doing what Craig is and it brings a little of Africa back to us anticipating out first trip.
I would hope that most folks planning for such an expensive endeavor as a Safari would have the intellectual property and the hunting expertise to make their own decisions on the product they will use.
Believe it or not; Craig is selling product of his sponsors to the novice hunter. Not most on this forum.
Besides, I would not care to have a camera man following me around hunting like Craig. What a pain; more noise, more scent, time to set up for the shot etc. etc. Probably hard for him to enjoy.

Jeff,

I just clicked on your profile after that comment and figured out who you are. Likely the last one here to know, LOL.

Yall have some cool products. I have one of your sheaths for a Becker Crewman. Well made. I don't carry that knife much, but it is a cool sheath.

Now, back to your original thread.

Dave,

I have an opinion on Craig's, writing I think it's always extremely technically correct and I find it dull and predictable. I don't care for it and that means exactly ZERO in the big wide world. Craig will not be affected one way or another by me not reading his magazine articles. Yet I have a tremendous amount of respect for the man as a hunter, as a military man and the fact that he is the most successful and experienced modern outdoor writer in the history of outdoor writers bar none.

My question to you is what exactly are you going to do to these internet snipers when one shows up at your booth and express their opinions in person? Are you and Jeff going to stomp em down Texas style?

You seem to have a serious problem with making thinly veiled threats that you count on not carrying through. In the real world what you are hinting at is called felony battery and it makes it real tough to own a firearm after one of those convictions. Just a thought, but you might want to consider growing up.

You've got my phone number and E-mail if you think I am need of another one of your personal warnings.

Thanks for the fatherly advice to ''grow up'' Sounds like the same advice I gave you a couple of years ago when you, in MHO whined about a small buffalo you pulled the trigger on but were very unhappy with. I do not think you will find anywhere where either Jeff W. or I suggested a Texas stomp down on anyone. If you don't like me personally, or Craigs work, you had it right'the world including Dave could care less '. I know you have an axe to grind with me for some reason, but you are entitled to your opinion. My invite to come by the booth to express to Craig your negative views on all his work, or our combined work, is still on. But please say your bit and move aside so the long line of folks who enjoy our products and efforts can come over to say hi. I get along with most folks famously, especially hunters, and even more so if they hunt Africa. There is probably a reason you and I won't be friends in the future. But I will survive that reality in good order I think.

Dave,

You are making erroneous statements here just like you did in May 2008 when we had our little chat. And in your infamous e-mail that you sent me last fall. I simply don't understand why you would want to run your business in this manner.

I have known CB for about 15 years, not to say we are good friends, but we've hunted together once or twice!

Two weeks ago I offered to BUY CB a buffalo hunt in a new CONCESSION we are offering for 2009. Hoping he would come along and give us some good reviews. He looked at the hunt seriously, but could not make the dates work! He insisted however on paying for the hunt, should he decide to come.

He is however doing a DEER hunt with us in 2010. He offered to pay for that hunt too, I refused! I don't think he is actively LOOKING for free hunts, just my experience with CB.
