Earlier this morning I was told that Frans and Sandy Troskie had been badly injured in an unspecified manner and were in the hospital, about an hour ago I was sent the information below. Hope for a full and speedy recovery.


"Sandy Troskie and husband Frans survive vicious attack by four black males with pangas and knives on Ellisras farm: children Franco, Vanessa and Cameron fled and hid in bush evening of Oct192013
Oct 19 2013: Source of report and picture by Afrikaner Red October singer/activist Steve Hofmeyr: "No farm attack will get Sandy Troskie of Ellisras down. She and Frans are in ICU at Montana Hospital. Their daughter writes: 'It was like a horror movie, my parents' blood was in every room of the house. When Franco and I and Cameron were walking from the house to the hunting camp... we told Mom we'd be back quickly and 5 minutes later four blacks went into the back door and attacked my dad, and one man stabbed my mom in the neck, the chest, the face and cut off the ligaments in her arm. My dad was hacked with pangas over the head and stabbed in his chest, neck and his lung. Franco and I hid in the bush: we aren't going to have anybody stab us."

NOTE: at this stage there is no indication that anything was robbed.

I saw on facebook about the incident. From the pictures they have posted they appear to be in good spirits.

A dreadful thing to happen but unfortunately happening more & more often nowadays.

I'd like to think they'll catch the evil bastards that did it but I'll bet they don't. The SAPS are as much use as a chocolate teapot nowadays.

No direct relation but good friends of ours. A big shock to us all. They're good people who mean no harm to anyone.

According to Frans' Dad whom I spoke to when I heard about this they're both doing ok at the moment although it was touch and go for a while. Will know more after I'd visited them tomorrow.

So many elements incite racial hatred in Africa nowadays.
It is almost a fashionable trend.

I saw this as well. Terrible. I've been to South Africa three times (2004, 2006, and 2011) to hunt.

My wife and I are supposed to go outside of Kruger the fall of 2014 for an Elephant hunt.

Should I be worried about safety? It's one thing if something happens to dad, but if something happens to mom and dad? We have 4 kids, three under 18.

No one can guarantee your safety & tourists do indeed sometimes become victims but nowhere near as often as the farm owners....... The ones most often attacked are the Afrikaaners & they have my deepest sympathies.

That particular group have contributed more to taming & civilising Africa than any other & if I counted my friends, the biggest & closest group of them would be Afrikaaners (which perhaps is unusual for an Englishman) & they have every ounce of my support.

It has been a bad week for farm attacks. We have seen two within the last week both in Natal and the Eastern Cape.

They pick soft targets. People need to protect themselves and make sure they dont present an easy opportunity.

They can eat lead if they come to my house. Let the fuckers burn in hell.

A short condition update: One of my friends in the medical field (who hunted with Frans last month) contacted the director of the hospital caring for the Troskie's and was told "they are doing well, badly battered but have been moved from ICU to a surgical ward and were feeling well enough to eat breakfast this morning"

Horrible thing to happen to such good people. Chris Troskie (no relation) introduced us to Franz and Sandy after our Nyala hunt in Natal. We stayed with them and had a great time. Franz and Chris worked very hard getting me in front of a Croc. I'll always remember Franz telling me about his first Buffalo hunt. His dad took him and Franz shot 3 Buffalo when he was a youngster. His dad paid $2.50 each! (Yes, two dollars and fifty cents each in Rand). They are wonderful people and Franz should have his own comedy show. I post updates on my facebook page (under my own name and Gray Ghost page). I'd hate to be one of the guys who did this if Franz catches them. Bastards! BTW: They employ a fair number of locals...I guess the entitlement mindset has come to South Africa.

Guys,this is just the sad reality of living in RSA today. Myself being a Afrikaans Farmer is constantly on the look-out for potensial threats to me and my family.

This is to be honest a very low intensity war against whites in different forms.

I wish the Troskies a speedy recovery.

Visited them in hospital earlier this evening. They're doing much better. Also learned that suspects have been arrested - one was found in possession of Sandy's stolen cell phone.

I have been out of town and just saw this tragic news. Frans helped me on a hunt several years ago, and Sandy shipped skins and skulls to my hunting party in the states.
Both are great folks , I fear things are only getting worse in RSA.

I hope they can recover soon.

Good Lord. So very sorry to hear of this and our prayers go out to this family. Cowardly dogs, the very worst of humanity at work. To those of you in the loop, please keep us updated on the recovery.

Here is what I've learned since my visit to the Troskie's last night:

Frans' son (Franco) was in the lodge which is about 300 - 400 yards from the Troskie's house. Sandy was already in the bedroom. The lodge is currently occupied by contract workers who are building the new power plant outside town. Vanessa (Frans' daughter) went to go call Franco as bedtime was approaching...

The thugs appeared in the doorway where Frans was sitting in the lounge. At first he thought they were some of his boarders - until he saw one of them was wearing a ski mask. He jumped up and at this point they produced knives and machetes and attacked him without warning. He says that during the attack - only once did one of them say: "Where is the money?" For the most part they were intent on killing him... There was no way of fighting 5 men with pangas and knives. They were all over him...

Frans realized that he was not going to win the fight on his own. He managed to fight his way out of the house and started making his way to his camp where he knew (or thought) there were people who could help. One or more of the thugs grabbed hold of his shirt and held him back but he managed to free himself leaving the shirt behind and ran for his life to the camp. Arriving there none of the boarders offered any help so he continued towards his staff quarters which is another 300 yards away (if not more). At this time he was struggling for air as his one lung had already been perforated as result of one of the knife wounds he'd sustained. But he managed to tell his staff what was going on and asked them to rush to the house as Sandy was alone and needed help. His staff then grabbed machetes and whatever weapons they could get hold of and made their way to the house - finding Sandy in a bloody state but alive. She had sustained injuries to her breast (where they had stabbed her), neck and fingers (tendons and nerves severed). The thugs had already departed by the time help arrived...

At this time it appears only cell phones are missing but no one knows really as Frans and Sandy haven't been back there yet. The motive for the attack is unclear at this time so it is of no use speculating. All I can say is that I am thankful my friends survived!

Fanwell (their chef) drove Frans and Sandy to the hospital in Lephalale (20 miles away). Sandy was immediately transferred to a Pretoria hospital but Frans was not stable enough to be transported by ambulance and was transferred after he'd been stabilized the following day.

Frans spent a couple of days in ICU but is doing better now and is sharing a ward with his wife who underwent surgery to mend the tendons and nerves. Apart from the chest wounds, Frans sustained wounds to his head and ear (which had to be stitched back by surgeons) They're in good spirits and recovering.

The children are OK too and are with Frans' parents who live in town. Fortunately they weren't in the house when the incident occurred! Lord knows how that might have turned out!

In a "fortunate" turn of events, one idiot criminal was caught with Sandy's cell phone. Will not go into details at this point but this arrest resulted in several more suspects being arrested and evidence recovered.

My sympathies to all the victims. God knows, the tally increases weekly. I work on an estate and carry a .357mag daily. Semi-jacketed-truncelated hollow points for anyone so inclined to require at minimum, a bit of high-care, or a box.

.357 is good medicine.

WOW, I just don't know what to say other than thank god they survived. Prayers go out to them and they're family members. Prayers for justice also.

Heard that they are supposed to be released from the hospital today. So, I believe recovery is going nicely at least physically. I know mentally this would stick with me for a very long time.

I always thought that the white Namibians I know near Windhoek and Outjo were paranoid for having electric fences and concertina wire around their properties. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Had their been 4 white beating a muntu the interpretation would have been racism.
When 4 blacks mutilate a white, they are justified by history and their social status.

The last report I have is that Franz is still in intensive care and Sandy has had some very serious surgery. Their ordeal continues. My thoughts are with them both and their family.
