Is how many times the name "Cecil the Lion" was googled before he was shot.

My brother in law is a well known internet marketing guy who just finished hosting a user group meeting. One thing he has focused on is internet search; one particularly adroit engineer discovered there were zero searches for "Cecil the Lion" prior to Palmer shooting him.

Shocker.

No one gave a flip about lion research, conservation, or who is really responsible for loss of habitat or the irresponsible killing that occurs almost daily by locals and not hunters.

If anything, anyone who has asked me about cecil, has a change of heart from what the original outcry has been.

Not really surprising considering the number of local Zimbabwean PHs, guides and outdoors folk who had never heard of him either.
