Its reuseability may be its biggest benefit, but there is no proof of its actual performance is the same as flesh.

Will, from my experience, there's nothing that simulates flesh, even shooting game, as I've seen completely different results from ,subjectively, what was the same shot. even ballistic gellatin does not perfectly simulate a hunting shot, unless one places bones and nylon strips to simulate an animal.. and then has it in a state of moving flux. What does shooting media prove? The bullets performance in that media... witha suggestion as to how it will perform in the field. after all, a bullets performance on a 120# deer has nothing to do with how it will perform on a Hippo just to frame references jeffe

I got better things to do on the weekends than boil gellitan and then go shoot it

It does not matter whether or not the test median is exactly like flesh or not. It only matters that it is a tough median and will therefore show differences between different bullets and thus which one will penetrate better in actual flesh. You cannot tell me that a bullet that penetrates better in phone books over another bullet will not also penetrate better in actual flesh over that same other bullet. A tough median is a tough median no matter what it is.

I am with Will and Jeffe on this one, even shooting dead Buffalo gives me a different bullet results than shooting live Buffalo.. You can compare in different medias one against the other and it still has little to do with actual game results...I have been doing both for years and know less about it now than I did 40 years ago...Today I judge bullets by kill results, all else just makes for only interresting reading IMO...I guess that just comparing one bullet to another is just that and nothing more, for some reason that I cannot explain and finally decided and didn't need to know in the first place. ![]() ![]()
