I researched for quite a while, thought about it for a while. Then later I made a decision. I don't have the funds to go to Africa to hunt, but I will have them eventually. I informed my wife that I would be going. I thought it would be a good opportunity for her and my son to travel and see some things. But I was going with or without her. For a couple days there was silence on the subject. That isn't generally a good sign. Then yesterday morning she says, "I've decided you can go to Africa."( I know it's best to bite my tongue in these circumstances.) "And I've been looking for some deals to save you some money." A good deal would get me to Africa faster. Sand Creek November 29 1864

Sometimes they're understanding, sometimes not. My wife and I had a "discussion" tonight - I bought another muzzleloader, exactly like the other three I already have in the safe because it was to help out a friend and was a good deal. I also drew a limited entry crossbow deer tag in a great area, and none of us even own crossbows! What's a guy to do??????

My ex-wife "Decided it was useless to try and tell me what to do or not to do". There are men who must ask permission from their wives to go hunting or fishing or out with friends. Permission is usually denied. I have no use for these so-called men. Elephant Hunter, Double Rifle Shooter Society, NRA Lifetime Member, Ten Safaris, in RSA, Namibia, Zimbabwe

I already know that if one person goes to hunt, others can tag along for a greatly reduced price, that will definitely get her attention. The opportunity for our son to learn new things will also get her attention. So, most likely she will also go. As for her hunting, if she can walk up to the animal and slit it's throat and get on with cooking it, she will be in. If it involves more effort, she won't be interested. Yes, another vote for taking your wife and son along. In the end, she will be less inclined to bash your hunt, but will instead, talk non-stop about how much fun she and your son had accompanying you.

Frank45/70, Go as soon as you can because the price is only going up. Try to go to a dangerous-game area for the best experience.

Ya, Jerry, my wife puts up with me as well... She even hid little "love" notes in my bags and gear on my first trip. Oh, I almost forgot about the new diamond weeding rings it cost me. My second trip over was a bit easier because my son went with me. We are talking about our next trip..... after our elk and moose hunts that is.

I'm packing meat for her this weekend, presuming "little miss" Bait Babe fills her Caribou tag. She headed to he range by herself while I was working and was again driving tacks with her 7 x 57. Looking forward to her ruining a nice camping weekend by killing something. ______________________ DRSS ______________________ Hunt Reports 2015 His & Her Leopards with Derek Littleton of Luwire Safaris - http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/2971090112 2015 Trophy Bull Elephant with CMS http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/1651069012 DIY Brooks Range Sheep Hunt 2013 - http://forums.accuratereloadin...901038191#9901038191 Zambia June/July 2012 with Andrew Baldry - Royal Kafue http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/7971064771 Zambia Sept 2010- Muchinga Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/4211096141 Namibia Sept 2010 - ARUB Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/6781076141

He means to hunt an area that has dangerous game even if you are only hunting plains game as the dangerous game in the area enhances the experience(loins roaring, sneaking around elephants, etc.) The only problem with this idea is the fact that most dangerous game areas are not the best plains game areas. Jason "You're not hard-core, unless you live hard-core." _______________________ Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt. Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure. -Jason Brown

Mostly true. Also DG areas tend to cost a bit more because they are usually more remote. $600-$800/day for PG is worth it to some to hear lions, see Elephant Hippo and Buffalo and be in the real Africa. Good PG does exist in some corners of the DG world. But it is usually the exception rather than the rule.

A couple of exceptions are the Save Valley Conservancy and Sentinel Ranch down on the Limpopo. Here you'll shoot a good variety of PG along with your DG. "Everytime I read one of these threads and the varied responses, advice, and "marital counseling" I realize how lucky my wife and I are to have each other." I find myself in a similiar situation with Sadie and I thank God for my good luck. Mark MARK H.
