You guys and your knives. There IS such a thing as too much gun you know. In 2007 while in the Caprivi I tried using spit-wads. I had what I thought was a fairly reliable system, .248 x 10" Standard straw, red of course, not the cheap white plastic version. They can't hold the pressures required for good trajectory. The problem was I hadn't anticipated the mud encrusted hide. The spit wad simply fragmented on impact, causing the buffalo to cross into Botswanna where I was not able to pursue the bull any longer. I can't believe that nobody has said it yet.... I think the finest buffalo knife is the 4570 tempered lever knife. Using very slow velocity strokes for better penetration. | |||
