LDK: Let´s not take no for an answer! It would feel good to get something started. How many members does AR have?

I just got off the phone with SCI in Washington DC. Ineeka (spelling?) was very grateful to hear our position on the Elephant/ivory issue. She advised me that SCI had been (for a long time) involved with this situation and would be in attendence at the CITES convention next month in Hague. However, she is going to speak with the people in charge and ask what we as International members can do. I suggested a petition so she will bring it to their full attention and call me back. She in fact returned my call, so I can say with all honesty, they listen. Hopefully, there is something we as Hunter/members can do. At least we are willing and SCI is listening. I will await their instructions and keep everyone advised. Good hunting, David

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

Davids enthisiasm and diligence got me thinking -Why am I not a member of SCI?

So today a subscribed to a three year membership -SCI kan thank David for a new member.

Let´s hope we can get our voices heard at the next CITES meeting. If we can get a petition rolling maybe it could be sent to the governments of Southern Africa?

L. David, Cewe, et al,

First, many thanks L. David for taking the bull by the horns and to Cewe, and all of you who see this as a very real problem and are ready to do more than piss and moan.

SCI, USSA, NRA and the other orgs are good at being our watchdog but having another group, as I said before, made up of us like-minded AR'ers would make sense as it only adds to the letters/calls that would be recieved by decision makers.

International Union of Conservationists?
World (or International) Conservation League?

Groups that do not wave the flag of their agenda, that do not rub people's noses in their soup, but come in under the radar, are much more effective. (Remember those funny folks over at HSUS) Not trying to hide anything, just get calls returned, letters read.

Anyway, I'm off on Sunday for a month of conservation work myself. I'll be very interested to see what developes.
