Jeff,

Finally something we can agree on. It is very unbecoming for two people of the same industry to beat one another in public. If you guys need to continue this, we have PM's.

This is yet another example of why there are fewer and fewer threads of any real merit on AR.

Anyone who post a picture of anything has opened themselves up to being belittled.

Shit like this has made many posters with real experience either look elsewhere or just quit posting.

Steve,

A man who spoke his mind, but had great experience quit posting here. I won't name him, but I'm sure you and others have noticed his absence. I found AR to learn. I still learn, but there's so much bullsh'$.

I'm sticking around to keep learning.

JK Keep it coming you post some of the best pictures, and as I said 99% here enjoys it no need to go into pissing matches with everyone that don't like it, there are a couple of guys on here that think they walk on water and everything they post is magic and very time one of them post A photo the entire AR CROUT should applause!!

And if you for some reason don't hunt in that country were they operate everything else to them is suspect especially anything in South Africa!! I have said it and will say it again THE TIMBAVATI IS ONE OF THE BEST BIG GAME AREAS IN ALL OF AFRICKA AND ONE OF THE FEW LEFT WERE IN ONE DAY YOU CAN SEE AND HUNT ALL OF THE BIG 5!! And the reason that the game in there might seem "TAME" TO THEM IS THAT THEY ARE HEAVELLY PROTECKTED Your rhino success is a proof of that. Good luck and pls post as many pictures from that place as possible!!

Guys and one last thing all of you will notice less and less good threads on this wonderful side that SAAED runs, lets stop all this bulls... And lets get back to what is important family, hunting, tell fellow hunters of good places to hunt and witch to avoid, and most important fighting the liberals! I am out...

Intrepid Safaris:

If your command of the English grammar is beyond your reach, you need to learn how to use the spell check function. Big Grin

I made a minor but important correction to your statement which gives reason as to why particular protection is afforded to the area which in reality boils down to "put and take".

Nothing wrong with that at all .... "as long as its legal" (famous phrase) much like the unanswered question as to how one goes about shooting a Lesser Kudu in TZ on a 7 day hunt. Wink

Fujutupu, I have to agree with JK get live, You love to insult people but your lack of knowledge on Africa and hunting boggles my mind. Have you being to the Timbavati??? That place has A open fence to Krugerpark witch has a open fence line with Mozambique, so we are talking about Millions of acres here but then again. A arm chair expert like you would not know the difference. I sometimes type fast and make A spelling mistake with out even looking at the screen so sorry for that but your insults is childish go back to your armchair and go and dream about what we live everyday!! Answer this simple question when was the last time you been to Africa??

Sit back and actually read your own posts. Why are you always trying to be destructive and critical? What have you offered the AR community in the way of hunt reports, photos and all the other positive contributions? Maybe one of the more statistically minded members could give us a % negative vs a % positive on your posts. It might even embarrass you.

I'm fairly sure that I could google up a bunch of photographs of Tanzanian lions lolling around while landrover loads of tourists ooh and aah over them from a few yards away. Does that mean that they are all tame or pen raised? I'm sure I could do the same for the rest of the migratory animals. Does that mean they are not "wild"?

Your limited knowledge of the Timbavati is painfully evident from your last post.

Finally you see fit to criticise the spelling of another poster??? Really now?? Can we expect you to trawl the rest of the boards admonishing all the rest of the posters who do not speak English as their first language?

Surprise us all with a positive contribution to AR.

You would indeed be surprised but I won't give you that satisfaction as I am after all, an armchair cowboy with bugger all experience in African hunting (which should suffice in answering your question). animal

Read my posts carefully and you will see that I do not comment negatively on all posters, just the odd few that blatantly ooze with BS.

One of the more recent ones just got swallowed hook, line and sinker by most if not all, yet I refrained from commenting as those who post BS reports must have the freedom to do so without being challenged on that particular forum (yet free to be challenged on a separate thread/forum - which of course is somewhat of a joke!).

Fulvio,

So you are telling us that your only possible positive contribution to AR, even though you have a wealth of experience, is to negatively comment on a "just a few who blatantly ooze with BS".

Without examples of your knowledge base for us to understand the experience you are coming from then perhaps you too will be mistaken to "blatantly ooze with BS". Shame really!! But what would be a bigger shame is if your "need" to shame some BS'ers on AR is where life has left you at this point.

BTW, nice job of the Shakari school of emoticons when you get called out by someone. What's next? Latin?

Jim

DLS,

I am much to blame here. It was me who commented on the perfect picture of a freshly darted Lion standing in front of a camera seemed one in a million when you consider the man just seemed to toss the camera in a random bit of bush.

Fuju may have called Justin out but there was no need to belittle the man. A chap who probably has had more experience with Lion than you and I have had hot dinners.

Andrew,

It's good you step up and reflect on your previous comment. Obviously both you and Fulvio have much to offer given your experiences.

I think we all have seen benefit from many of your posts and your sharing of information and experience. Given that body of work many here myself included, have at times ignored an occasional jab from you.

My post to Fulvio is plainly stated. Perhaps I have been missing it but for someone with the credentials and experience you have attributed to him, he rarely shares positive information but rather enjoys creating drama while sitting back on his experience as a get out of jail free card.

That does no one any good.

Cheers
Jim

There is a high density of Lion in Kruger and the bordering APNR. It's not strange to set up a camera at a waterhole and find Lion on the card. It would actually be strange not to , if the camera has been up for a while. The whole system is a piece of well managed African paradise.

Andrew, not your fault at all. You understand how to present your comments with respect, tact, and often, subtle humor. I think most everyone respects you on here, I certainly do, precisely because when you swing a hammer, it is a finish hammer rather than a framing hammer. Fujo, on the other hand, seems to prefer a sledge.

Subtlety is a quality that too few on here practice, or understand, for that matter.

Agreed Jim. There are one or two grand old time PH's here that do not post at all. I suspect these old hands now simply enjoy a good malt and now and again sift through some faded pictures of great times and will carry their memories to the grave.

The likes of Fuju will bait us young whipper snappers and if we bite they will lift the tip of the rod.

AR is a cauldron of characters, the good the bad and the ugly and these people make for good debate. It is not a fact that pissing matches draw the biggest crowds and onlookers?

Certain members - off the top of my head - the likes of ISS and Shootaway get more than their fair share of criticism but I do not see many (any?) standing in their defence.

Gotta take the rough with smooth on this site mate.

Hell, we had the most prolific outdoor writer alive today as a regular contributor here and successfully ran him off. (Craig Boddington)

That sucked, you can say whatever you want about Craig but his experience to add to the forum was like the framework of a home.

Craig, Ivan etc the list will be long if we start counting."Can't we all just get along?" Smiler

No hero worship, just miss the people that does it for a living and their knowledge.

How is that a "snide comment"? I thought it looked like a statement of fact that I personally know to be true.

How is that a "snide comment"? Looked like a statement of fact.

We are in violent agreement. I hate that snide comments are what drives people away.

I apologize if it came across wrong.

I think Anton thought you may have meant his comment was snide. English being one of his back up languages perhaps he thought he screwed up the translation.

I agree with you concerning "snide comments". I likely have been at fault in that category from time to time.

Cheers
Jim

Unfortunately for Fujo all of his potential for positive contribution and the sharing of experience/knowledge is lost with his style of contribution. He comes across on the internet as a bitter and twisted individual with nothing pleasant to say. If he has the experience you allude to it would be beneficial to the forum if he put up some reports/articles rather than continually sniping from the back benches.

Your comment on the "give and take" aspect of AR is fair enough as long as each is applied in equal measure.

JCHB:

If you were to read all the posts from beginning to end you will notice I have never at any time resorted to name-calling (if and when I have to it will be on a personal level).

I agree I can be sarcastic but only employ that venue when I need to get the message across to someone who does not understand subtlety and as I have said before, I will not hesitate in calling a spade a spade when BS stares you in the face.

Allow me to wander off slightly to the subject of Hunt Reports from which I would like to quote a phrase verbatim (there's your Latin bit Jim)from one of AR's reknown posters, a man who has been around and gained a considerable level of African hunting experience:

..."to provide a detailed and honest account of the hunt, including the phenomenal highs and the gut-wrenching lows"....

a phrase that some people cannot or prefer not to heed - pity because it would give them and their report more credibility.

You have chosen to adopt a biased stance only because you are unfamiliar with my past "jousts" with JK, jousts that have now become a sort of sporting event as and when opportunity arises, between us - difference being he loses balance and falls off his steed far too quickly. Wink

Now to refer back to some of your comments:

"I'm fairly sure that I could Google up a bunch of photographs of Tanzanian lions lolling around while Land-Rover loads of tourists ooh and aah over them from a few yards away. Does that mean that they are all tame or pen raised? I'm sure I could do the same for the rest of the migratory animals. Does that mean they are not "wild"?......"

Tanzania does not have any Lion Breeding Programs and therefore disqualify any and all from being "pen raised" (unless some sneaky unknown outfitter has secretly flown a couple in).

Tame they are because they have been accustomed to the endless waves of humanity that besiege them day in and day out and know they are in a secure and friendly environment. Getting out of the vehicle to pet them does not offer the proof to distinguish the difference between these cats as wild, tame or pen-raised, as any would likely tear you to shreds.

"Finally you see fit to criticise the spelling of another poster??? Really now?? Can we expect you to trawl the rest of the boards admonishing all the rest of the posters who do not speak English as their first language?"

The man was criticized as a form of reciprocity for his criticism towards me - I do not recall having admonished any other poster whose first language is not English - and there are many.

You must admit PdP did pretty well on his reply though!

Cheers - I have to go back to my armchair and dream about what everyday life must be like living in Africa.

Steve

Damn, I was just getting ready to post photos of the 19 year old Thai twins (females) I had last week (I am 65), but given the attitudes on this thread, I'm just going to keep the photos to myself.

Larry,

When I feel like getting back to civilization, I'm still up for free-lancing a stint or two per season in the sticks.
I'm aiming to do so between October/November, my preferred months for the Selous.
