they can order what you want. mostly they use a local breed by the name of Truvello. well known for their export of localy produced sniper rifle's to the Nato and other forces. my 300H&H has such a barrel and i get an 11mm group at 100m out of factory ammo. member of the s-african hunters and game conservation association: dedicated hunter status | |||

Karl, I know Gerrie has access to Pac-Nor barrels and others, Sabi used to imprt Walther barrels, etc, so that would be the option I take after Vektor closed down. I absolutely detest Truvelo barrels, and would not take one even if they gave it to me for free, or even pay me $1000..... Some might disagree, but I have seen just too many problems with them to ever trust them again. And the funny thing is, the most problems start to occur later in the barrel's life, round about 600-800 shots, they just all of a sudden develop pressure problems. @ adam2: Thanks for the link to his website. I went there and got his contact details, which I have added to the list. He sure makes some fine safari rifles... all from scratch too! @ Karl Stumpfe: Thanks for the head's up. I think I will send this list to every email that I have, and ask them to sort out their details and get back to me with any error fixes. I'm going to hold off on changing Gerrie until you (or he) can give me a confirmation on that address. If anyone else sees anything on these addresses that does not look right, please let me know. I tried to format it so it would make sense to an English speaking person, especially an American. It would be a good resource if a hunter needed to find a good gunsmith while on safari, or if they just wanted to go by and look at their guns, etc. I didn't bother with the phone numbers because it would be too much of a mission to try and figure out city codes, cell codes, whatever. Hopefully that will come right in the next round of editing, when I get feedback from the gunsmiths. It would be nice to have these phone numbers formatted for correct dialing within South Africa, but I'm sure any local person could figure it out. If anyone knows of a good gunsmith that is not on this list, please send me as much of their contact details as you can. If you could use the format above to organize the information, it would be appreciated.
