I'm curious, for a book about elephants and elephant guns, why have a lion on the cover?

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

YYYeeeesssss!!!!

I will finally learn the secrets of hunting elephants properly and no longer be castigated and ridiculed by my peers!

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

An ALMOST word-for-word extract of the chapter on doubles versus bolt actions is in the new issue of the Dangerous Game Hunting magazine. But I'll throw out a tidbit later today.

Smiler

Hey, don't be blaming anything on my grand kids.

I thought the cover turned out pretty cute. It is the outline of a big 75 pounder I took a picture of once in Mana. But opinions may vary. Smiler

The longer you have to wait, the more you'll think it's okay when you get it!!!!!!

If the first chapters are as good as the last two you won't be disappointed.

Will,

How much for a signed copy of your first book when I buy both? Checkbook is in front of me and will be in the mail today (even though it is Sunday).

I just had some bookshelves put up in the office. No medical books there - only Safari books on one, American muscle cars on the other. Your books will be great there after a good, slow read.

Might put the impala mount on the wall - no room for the Cape buffalo or kudu. Very popular subject matter here in New Jersey.

Will - let me know the cost of the ink ...

Thanks,
Paul
