The .223 Remington is exactly just that a 5.56x45 and the AR15/Mini14 platform it is shot from hardly qualifies it as a "hunting weapon" It's primary origin and purpose is a weapon of war and as such it is disqualified.

Now I do not care if there is a following and AR15 club or Hunt clubs that use these weapons of war out there or whatever turns them on, shooting game with that type of weapon does not qualify as hunting.

You can argue and "prove" it's worth and why it should be accepted but fact is many states have banned the .22 centerfires for hunting. Obviously they have no sporting purpose and the only people that would want them are terrorists.

There I fixed it for you.

Feel free to add that the .308 Winchester and the .30-06 are also military calibers and are used in machine guns, M1s, M14s, and FALs and therefore are weapons of war and have no sporting purpose.

You might not have said it but someone will!

All I'm trying to get at is everytime you ban a gun, or caliber, or whatever, your state could look like ours.

If it LOOKS like an assault rifle, it's pretty much illegal.
Our useless law now means my friends can't shoot their 50's at the range. In this state, we have to go to Nevada to own a 600 overkill.

I can't own a piece of history, an AR-15, a mac 10, or any AK-47, semi auto.

While I understand your feelings, I find the situation deserves obscenity. It's obscene that with the 14th amendment extending the first ten amendments to the states, that the Supreme Court has allowed the violations of the second amendment by states to stand. NO LAW means, NO LAW.

I'm not going to go back through & pick out quotes (that would take WAY too long, as plenty of guys offer up some choice ones...), but I'll just say that those that are saying they support it because "the 50 is a military round & should be banned" (well then what about the 223, 308, and 30-06??), that guys shooting 50's are "slobs" who won't follow up on long shots (yeah, I've NEVER run across a slob hunter carrying a "normal" rifle...), that they support it "in this case" or "under these conditions", etc, etc, etc...

You guys would have your ass absolutely handed to you in a face-to-face debate with a REAL anti-gunner. If we had to rely on you guys to defend our rights, I'd be selling ALL of my guns right now, before the government confiscated them.

I just can't believe how many guys think that it's OK to regulate & make illegal something that they personally think is "wrong", but use arguments that completely undermine their own position!!!

I also can't understand how willing people are to justify things by putting certain "conditions" on certain things, to say it's OK. When did you EVER see the anti-gun crowd put a "condition" on a ban, and actually stop there? Once they get that "condition" or step, it's time for the next one. And the steps never get reversed...

It's scary to read some of the stuff that guys have written here, while championing themselves as defenders of our freedom, and being totally pro-gun.

Like I said back on page one... chipping away, one step at a time. And you guys are letting them. Hell, you're actually SUPPORTING them... (As long as it only affects that "other" slob, doing something that you would never do.... )
