Todd WilliamsLion Video from my recent hunt.
Here is a short video clip from my recent lion hunt with Charlton McCallum Safaris. The hunt report is listed here:
http://forums.accuratereloadin...941017181#9941017181A couple of comments:
No. 1, I'm a hunter first and video guy second so unfortunately, I didn't give Ray, the cameraman enough time to get fully set before firing the first shot.
No. 2, Watch the lion's ear while Blake and I are talking about the hunt. He twitches several times. It had the trackers and game scout a bit nervous.

SaeedVery nice Todd.
May I suggest you upload your video in MP4 and in higher quality?
11 November 2012, 09:46
Todd WilliamsSaeed,
Thanks. I tried to upload in a bit higher quality but it was giving me something in excess of 200 minutes required. Obviously, I haven't figured out all the ins and outs of editing just yet. I'll keep working with it and see if I can get it a bit better in the next day or so.

LionHunterTodd - Congrats on your kitty, a good lookin' fellow. You must watch more of Shockey - "Are you on him?" - however, to ensure your cameraman is ready.

bwanamrmExcellent video... not sure I could control myself either with a big cat a few yards away offering an exposed shoulder! Nice.

Bill/OregonWell-earned trophy Todd. I think seeing that ear move would have given me pause (think change of shorts) too!
What caliber is your double? Looked a bit like .450-400. CEB bullets?

Bill,
My two doubles on this trip were a 577NE VC and a 9.3X74R Chapuis. The 9.3 was used on the lion and was topped with a 1.25x4 Trijicon. Both rifles were shooting the CEB Non-Cons and BBW#13 Solids.
11 November 2012, 20:04
pagosawingnutIt appears that the rifle, CEB's and the shooter were up to the task. Nicely done.

SBTGreat video. Watching the ear twitch a couple of times on a dead lion being posed for a video would have been unnerving.

jorgeUBER KOOL Todd!!! that 9.3 looks like a sweet rifle and perfect for that hunt. I take it you were happy with the Trijicon's performance. Was it a post or X hair setup and what color? jorge

Todd WilliamsJorge,
The Trijicon on that rifle is an older one. The first I purchased and it was previously mounted on my CZ 416 Rigby. It has the post and triangle in red. When I bought it, I think red was the only option. I'm really sold on the Trijicon scopes. I like the no-battery feature!

Dave FulsonTodd, like I said on the phone, a Day 15 lion is a whole lot sweeter in the end than a Day 1 lion! Could not be more pleased it came together for you. A great job all around to both you and the CM team.

Todd WilliamsThanks Dave. You're 100% correct. Day 15 is enough to really get into it, sweat the pressure a bit, and then have time to relax afterword.
BTW, regarding my previous comments on the Trijicon line of scopes, I actually learned about them from Tracks Across Africa!!

MacD37Congratulations Todd! That little 9.3 is a go getter with the Trijicon, for cats over bait, and you handled backing up your own shot very well!

You mean the one with the 1" tube? I have two Trijicons and absolutely love them. Once I got used to the "picket fence" crosshairs, I just don't think there is a better DG scope out there and I can shoot very precisely with them as well. Kinda like a "pipper"

mejA fine video Todd. Congratulations again on this fine lion. You deserved it so much and it felt just right that you connected with it.
So great and exciting to watch, you're very cool and collected, before, during and after your shots (with the double).
I do think Ray caught it all well on camera.
Have you considered another inexpensive hunt with CMS this coming September/October? In which case we may meet again, because I have already booked!
Kindest regards
Jytte

Todd WilliamsJytte,
Thanks again for the comments. Yea, these "inexpensive" hunts are killing me!! The current plan is to hunt with Buzz in Ngamo this September. It would be great to meet up and say hello again!
Cheers.
PS. How's the weather in Denmark compared to Dande. A bit cooler I'm betting!!

PulicordsWell done Todd and thanks so much for sharing the experience with us!
While I'm sure that most of the members on the forum won't be able to afford a lion hunt, reading posts like yours and seeing this video certainly encourages us to look more closely at the variety of African adventures that
are within our means. If we can't afford a lion hunt, what about leopard, buffalo, plains game?
