Wow, I am in a Crown Room Lounge in ATL and noticed they serve Amarula here. Sipping it now. Must be the SAA connection...

I must be the only one who thinks Amarula tastes like watered-down Bailey's. I brought back a few bottles about five years ago and found it to be a major taste disappointment.

Enjoy.

When they bought Miller several years ago I had high hopes of finding Castle in the states. Alas, no such luck. Amarula like Bailey's or Kaluai just don't do it for me.

Kensco

I dont wish to be rude

BUT from what I have heard some of those (illegal brews) you chaps concoct in India are close to being wood alcohol ... I therefore understand when you say Amarula might taste like watered down piss (-:

Goodnees me that stuff you drink over there can actually kill people I believe or if not kill them make them go blind !!!

Hope you see the humourious side Wink

Cheers, Peter - will drink anything within reason

No, you are not the only one, however, a closer comparison to what it tastes like is melted ice cream. I just can't get excited about it, break out the whiskey!

I absolutely love it in the evenings...chilled, served up. Best around a fire with appropriate night sounds (african night sounds). It is similar to Baileys but what the hell, I like that too.

Are you looking to get shit faced or have a nice light after drink. I wouldn't addle up to the bar and get Amarula looking for a kick. It is just great of an evening by a nice fire be it in Africa, pinney woods of Carolina or at home on the hills of Pa.

Amarula's good, we get it at the Duty Free shop in Nuevo Progreso for $14/L. Word to the wise, don't drink too much of it at one sitting. Frowner

Next time you have a coffee in the evening, try a splash of Amarula with it in lieu of milk. Wink

I had never tried Amarula, but I found a bottle last weekend at AJ's in Scottsdale. I forgot I even had it until I saw this thread. My girlfriend and I just had a glass each on the rocks and it is great stuff! cheers

I even tried Amarula over ice cream trying to make it work for me. It got beat in that application also, by Mitad del Mundo.

I do like the Amarula label, but that's about it.
