MJinesShare your African Hunting Screen Saver
Wendell Reich posted on another thread about a picture that Nick Brandt took that he uses as his screen saver. So if you have an African hunting-related screen saver on your iPhone, iPad, computer or mobile phone, let's see it.
Here is the photo I am using on mine. The photo was taken by Jofie Lamprecht and is the basis for the Joshua Spies painting, Trailblazer.

BiebsHere's mine. I took this myself in the Caprivi when hunting with Karl Stumpfe. We had already tagged out, but were stalking some cows just for fun when this Bull came across the jess from the right, and continued towards us until it was 12 feet away. You could tell by his movements that he was just inquisitive. I lifted my camera and his face filled the frame. He stayed there staring at us for 3-4 minutes, then sauntered away. As we left to go back to the Landcrusier, the cows charged us with our backs turned...had to fire over their heads to stop them. Cool hunt :-)

the Caprivi with Karl Stumpfe

BiebsJungleboy, what rifle is that? A sidelock big bore double...way cool :-)

JungleboyBiebs,
It's a Holland & Holland Royal 500/465, circa 1908.
Karl, & a bunch of
my friends, think I'm crazy for taking it to the places I do. But that is where
the elephants are? It's in pristine condition & is very accurate. Hopefully,
it will back in the Caprivi or around Khaudum this Fall or next Spring.
I'm an anglophile at heart.
Cheers, Jim

AnotherAZWriterMy screen saver is a picture of my daughter playing the national anthem on her flute during the 2003 MN state hockey championships. She did it in front of 22,000 people and live TV, for both the Class A and AA games.
I would not have traded that day for any hunt.

I understand from Jofie there is an interesting story behind the impala in the painting. As you noted, Joshua decided to enhance the painting by adding a herd of impala in the background. When Jofie saw the painting initially apparently the impala in the painting were common impala. Jofie told Joshua that the impala needed to be changed to black faced impala since the picture was taken in Etosha where there are only black faced impala. So the painting and prints now show black faced impala . . . and now you know the rest of the story.

G L KrauseTook this as I was going down the Chobe River to a buffalo hunt camp. Manged to get elephant, giraffe and eagle in the same shot. About the only "artistic" photo I have ever successfully taken. Makes a good desktop.
