Charlie and his son Adam fished with me in the Gulf of Mexico on my last over night trip. We fished on the stern for 2 days and a night. He had a collectors passion for several things of which he was an expert. I found out when Adam posted on facebook. RIP Charlie, you will be missed.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

His passing is really sad. It should serve as a reminder that none of us are getting any younger and we should all make it a point to take care of ourselves. I say this as I am 6 months past due on my physical.

Very sad to hear of this.

As has been noted, Charlie was very opinionated....but his opinions were most often born out of experience and well worth noting!

I will miss his posts.

Condolences to all who knew and loved him. I am sorry I never had the chance to meet him.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Charlie, but I read his posts, exchanged a few PM's, and sold him a few toys. He was a gentleman of the first order. His likes are not apt to come this way again. We'll all miss you Charlie.

Never met him, but since we were both in Texas we were considering a duck hunt in Chad. Gato thought to ask the outfitter if it was safe and the outfitter's response was that Chad had more foreign (French) troops per capita than any country in Africa, so of course it was safe. Gato's PM to me was "They aren't there on vacation."

He had a great sense of humor and will be missed.
